I've been thinking of this for a while. What if there was a little handheld monitor that you could touch/drag a stylus across thereby controlling where the camera focuses. You could do fast racks by touching different points, or drag as someone is moving in the frame. This is such an obvious idea but I haven't heard anyone mention it. Doesn't sound too far fetched with smart lenses and lens mounts. What do ya think?
Don't worry.. Jim thought of that idea quite a few years ago, and will be a feature in Scarlet and Epic.
Found it!
Not sure who started the 1080P spec (we didn't) for the Bomb EVF. I guess people just assume and then post.
It is an advancement because it is 12 bit color and has a faster scan rate.

I made the assumption myself, I think its because of this...

What is the basic approach to the optical finder? It's not a range finder I assume and I can't imagine you are putting in a physical mirrored shutter to look through the lens.
No one else is curious about this?
We will have the new Bomb EVF working for those who find us at the show tomorrow.. the new Bomb EVF also works with the RED ONE as Jim mentions.. so we will find the RED ONES on the show floor and give it a go for any that are interested.. it's worth seeing.
Sounds very exciting. However, when flying to IBC and you happen to carry the new EVF on the plane with you, I suggest you don't lable it as "the bomb" - people may get even more excited then I am.
It's like when the band "Garbage" went to perform in Russia. All their cases were labled "Garbage" - needless to say, nothing made it through customs.
I doubt he has to worry about what he labels his stuff.
