x-break

x-break

Hi Stephen,

I agree that waiting 90 or so seconds for the Red to boot can be frustrating..

Leo

I agree that waiting 90 seconds for RED One to boot is very annoying, but even more disturbing is the logo covering all the screen for so long time. Directors and DP's are calling it commercial break. And what do you hate most in TV?

Could the X be all the boot time small in the corner or if not, could we choose to show short animations / cartoons at that boot time to have some fun out of the waiting :)

Hopefully Epic will rescue us with short booting time.

(Everything after X-break is amazing!!!)

I totally disagree about focusing. I've never managed to get auto focus to work more than 10% of the time.
Wow, that's stunning. I get about 98-99% in focus usually shooting in extremely difficult conditions. In most of those conditions, contrast-detect AF is going to get absolutely no shots in focus because the subjects are moving at several (sometimes 20) depths-of-field per second.

Besides, the idea of any viewfinder is to see what you are recording.

Don't know where you got that idea, but that is not the idea for me.

OK, real-life example: I was shooting the Milky Way with dSLR on a moonless night. I look in the OVF and see nothing, can't focus on anything and have NFI what the exposure might be. Switch to Live View and all of the sudden I can see everything, zoom in on a star, nail the focus instantly, set exposure in pitch black and shoot!

Real life example: I was shooting M5 with a dSLR. Through the OVF, I can see it clearly and even manually focus. Through an EVF on the same optics, absolutely nothing shows up at all, and the bright backlight ruins my night vision for at least a minute.
