I assume ARRI has fired Michael and distanced themselves from all this.... Correct?

Who else but the man himself?... in a docu-drama, of course. And, yes, it does have the makings of a really great film. So who's gonna play Mr. Jannard?
Stephen
Just to voice the same sentiment: where is Arri's position statement re: all this mess? I know, corporate lawyers will recommend not to say anything, unless there is a 100% assurance of no connections or potential connection(s) with somebody else....
So who's gonna play Mr. Jannard?
Only one man can play Jim:

... Are you expecting some sort of apology or something?
It is unfortunate that this is the world we live in.
Corporate espionage that makes its way into public domain knowledge is only skimming the surface of the problem.
The perpretrators stealing information, probing infrastructure defenses, inserting malicious code - are sometimes individuals, sometimes industrial and often foreign governments. Once you are exposed to the details of how bad the problem is, it becomes a very scary world. This is not paranoia, it is damn serious. Years of the manpower involved in R&D, never mind the monetary investment, can be washed away in the blink of an eye. In other cases, it threatens our way of life.
When it hits you directly - it hurts, really bad. It becomes quite personal.
Especially when your own vision becomes part of the "prize".
That hurt turns to anger is undeniably part of the process.
Need proof that life isn't fair? At a time of joy for Jim and RDC as so many announcements and products are rolling out, this distraction casts a shadow. They deserve better.
In the case of Michael, who many of us have known for years, it goes far beyond a betrayal of a trust. A lifetime of building a reputation disappears as though it was on a dropped etch-a-sketch.
This industry, this community, is built on personal relationships. We advance by working with each other. We share. We collaborate. Our end product is most often the result of many people - each contributing their talents to the end product.
As we watch this unfold, I'm willing - as should all users - to wait for questions to be answered before pointing the finger at anyone else.
The answer as to whether he acted as a lone wolf or as a proxy for others will make little difference in the long run. That damage has taken place is now fact.
Speculation only makes the wound deeper.
Jim, I hope you can keep as much of this on the plate of attorneys as possible - you've got some nice EPIC's rolling out!
