The situation forces a reaction that I never would have considered a possibility.

It's terrible to hear that the situation has apparently only grown far grimmer...and it makes it very hard not to speculate about all kinds of things.

Hopefully the Truth will come out soon and Justice will be reached.

If I was Arri and was innocent I'd be posting something here right now condemning this

Hmmm...

Silence

Nothing.

Shameful.

Maybe this is a bad joke but I just can't help myself since I can see it now in the form of a documentary:

Michael Bravin with the Dragon Tattoo

Maybe we don't know all there is to this.

I don't believe that JJ was sending detailed technical info to Amnon or anyone else who wasn't part of RED.

Maybe MB pleaded guilty to draw a line under it all as he can't afford the lawyers that others can.

Maybe a deliberate trap was involved.

Maybe we should all just wait to see what happens and what comes out in the fullness of time.

the best way to support Jim at a time like this ... is to buy more red's.

+1.

While this whole mess obviously suggests the worst, best to refrain from jumping to too many conclusions.

Two months is a very light sentence. He pleaded guilty without a trial. It's total conjecture, but this sounds an awful lot like a state's witness deal to me. I expect this is going to go a lot deeper than a lot of us imagine. Jim's earlier statements would seem to suggest exactly that.

And, yes, it does have the makings of a really great film. So who's gonna play Mr. Jannard?

Stephen

Bruce Willis.

I am stunned! I know M. Bravin, I have sent much time with him at workshops and even one on one training when I bought one of my F900s. I would not have guessed this to happen.

Bravin is a RedUser member, he was quite active here in 2009 with lens discussions. It is courious that his most recent post has him interested in buying a R1MX

From 6/11/2009
Looking to buy a RED ONE body. PM me if you want to sell your RED ONE body only. I don't care about S/N. I sold my #54 and now I need a camera.

Leo, DUH!

It is unfortunate that this is the world we live in.

Corporate espionage that makes its way into public domain knowledge is only skimming the surface of the problem.
The perpretrators stealing information, probing infrastructure defenses, inserting malicious code - are sometimes individuals, sometimes industrial and often foreign governments. Once you are exposed to the details of how bad the problem is, it becomes a very scary world. This is not paranoia, it is damn serious. Years of the manpower involved in R&D, never mind the monetary investment, can be washed away in the blink of an eye. In other cases, it threatens our way of life.

When it hits you directly - it hurts, really bad. It becomes quite personal.
Especially when your own vision becomes part of the "prize".
That hurt turns to anger is undeniably part of the process.
Need proof that life isn't fair? At a time of joy for Jim and RDC as so many announcements and products are rolling out, this distraction casts a shadow. They deserve better.

In the case of Michael, who many of us have known for years, it goes far beyond a betrayal of a trust. A lifetime of building a reputation disappears as though it was on a dropped etch-a-sketch.

This industry, this community, is built on personal relationships. We advance by working with each other. We share. We collaborate. Our end product is most often the result of many people - each contributing their talents to the end product.

As we watch this unfold, I'm willing - as should all users - to wait for questions to be answered before pointing the finger at anyone else.
The answer as to whether he acted as a lone wolf or as a proxy for others will make little difference in the long run. That damage has taken place is now fact.

Speculation only makes the wound deeper.

Jim, I hope you can keep as much of this on the plate of attorneys as possible - you've got some nice EPIC's rolling out!

Very interesting observation that suggests a situation more troubling than it may seem. Also, everything being settled in such an expeditiously manner does not reflect the seriousness of the event, no matter how "simple" it was. Reading one e-mail or thousand, is just an aggravant fact. The hacking is still the underlining crime that does not change.

Just to voice the same sentiment: where is Arri's position statement re: all this mess? I know, corporate lawyers will recommend not to say anything, unless there is a 100% assurance of no connections or potential connection(s) with somebody else....
