And, yes, it does have the makings of a really great film. So who's gonna play Mr. Jannard?

Stephen
Who else but the man himself?... in a docu-drama, of course.

Just to voice the same sentiment: where is Arri's position statement re: all this mess? I know, corporate lawyers will recommend not to say anything, unless there is a 100% assurance of no connections or potential connection(s) with somebody else....

Until the gov drops the other shoe and has to reveal it's hand Arri won't be saying anything, because the extent to which the company may be implicated is unknown... Presuming that this is the tip of the iceberg.

It was bad enough that one of their executive came here to stir the pot and take an occasional shit. Why would they use RedUser as their platform to make a statement of position? Are you expecting some sort of apology or something?

Bravin last I heard was working at PACE 3D. I wonder if mr. James Cameron knows about any of this?

Montalban died in '09
Leo is too young
Yoda is too old
Connery is too Sr...
Alec Baldwin seems clever enough and suave enough, but his tough guy doesn't have enough edge. :-)

Hmmm... Who could be The Jannard?

In a scene from the upcoming film, Jim Jannard communicates his stone cold feelings about the scandal...

If only Keitel looked more the part... He's got the edge!

Equal parts Harvey Keitel, a Dennis Hopper and Sean Connery... Who's got all that?

He'd have to play himself, but I think I know what his answer would be:

Will it be a musical? If so, perhaps Tom Selleck.

I'm feelin' John Malkovich for the big guy. He's got the gravitas. The depth. He can bad ass with the best of them. He can play it cool. He can rip your head off.

This is a most disturbing thread to wake up to...

Betrayal is a horrible thing to experience. I wish you well, Jim and RED team, sending you good vibes and I hope it does not become a giant energy suck, at a time when you should be celebrating your amazing wave of achievements.

Best wishes.

I need therapy...

Jim

Time will heal.

An interesting saying I got from a mentor (in regards to artwork, but applies here) "you can tell all your secret techniques to the world, but know noone will ever make it as well as you do."

As painful as it may be, truth is, they may copy, but your team still innovated some alien technology. They will continue to do so. You have the precious commodity of the ability to create.

... Are you expecting some sort of apology or something?

Scott,

Obviously will not expect to use this forum; never suggested such action. Just a rhetorical question, if I remember my yeas in college... Well, more than rhetorical. Just came out of indignity. That is a feeling very hard of suppress when you feel violated, or that injustice has been perpetrated.

I hear you, Luis.

There is definite merit in the Malkovich idea but, still if it came down to it I think Malkovich would have somebody else tear off your head, while Jannard would do it himself. (If he could get to you before Jarred he would, definitely.)

It is unfortunate that this is the world we live in.

Corporate espionage that makes its way into public domain knowledge is only skimming the surface of the problem.
The perpretrators stealing information, probing infrastructure defenses, inserting malicious code - are sometimes individuals, sometimes industrial and often foreign governments. Once you are exposed to the details of how bad the problem is, it becomes a very scary world. This is not paranoia, it is damn serious. Years of the manpower involved in R&D, never mind the monetary investment, can be washed away in the blink of an eye. In other cases, it threatens our way of life.

When it hits you directly - it hurts, really bad. It becomes quite personal.
Especially when your own vision becomes part of the "prize".
That hurt turns to anger is undeniably part of the process.
Need proof that life isn't fair? At a time of joy for Jim and RDC as so many announcements and products are rolling out, this distraction casts a shadow. They deserve better.

In the case of Michael, who many of us have known for years, it goes far beyond a betrayal of a trust. A lifetime of building a reputation disappears as though it was on a dropped etch-a-sketch.

This industry, this community, is built on personal relationships. We advance by working with each other. We share. We collaborate. Our end product is most often the result of many people - each contributing their talents to the end product.

As we watch this unfold, I'm willing - as should all users - to wait for questions to be answered before pointing the finger at anyone else.
The answer as to whether he acted as a lone wolf or as a proxy for others will make little difference in the long run. That damage has taken place is now fact.

Speculation only makes the wound deeper.

Jim, I hope you can keep as much of this on the plate of attorneys as possible - you've got some nice EPIC's rolling out!

Brian, this is exactly how I feel but couldn't put into words... thanks for sharing.

You may well be right. In the extreme however, you could be very wrong. It all depends upon how much damage was done and who has to hold the bag.

Oh and um regarding the film.....

If only gary oldman worked out.....

" they read my emails......"
"Which one?"
"EVERYONEEEEEEEEEE......"

Pretty awesome.
