  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What a sad day for the film industry. Competition should be about making excellent products and giving excellent service. It should not be about cheating and stealing.

Keep up the spirit, Jim, don't let it eat at your heart and soul. And hit 'em hard.
 
If I get anymore info worse than I have already heard about... this will go to Recon.

I really hope certain pompous attitudes and bravado wasn't based on this... it would be very upsetting. This is very disheartening, my faith in humanity is already at an all time low this does not help, cheating and stealing is no way to go through this world let alone a good way to set an example for the youth of this world.

Those will always exist. THese people may have gains in the short term, but they inevitably end up failing. This guy, for example- what has he won with this? Where will he be standing later in the industry? How will people look at him?

Money isn't everything. Its essential for any company to make a profit in order to survive, but you have to have a driving force that is well beyond mere "maximum profitability", specially in this business. Red is on the right track. As long as your "core" has the same vision and philosophy, these other corporate giants all end up failing in the long term. They can never be able to innovate and bring the industry forward as Red does nowadays. Maybe in their early days they could, but not now. Just looking into this fiasco proves they can't.
 
Its strange, but I some how feel that this is an attack on all of us . I feel this betrayal on a personal level not that i have any reason to. I cant imagine how you feel Jim, it must cut you to the core. I am sorry that something like this happened to Red and its Team, it truly is disgraceful. You must know that if you asked for support from us we would all stand in unison. We love RED and we will protect it. In NZ we have a saying ..Loyal to the Bitter End, that applies here...

I understand what you are trying to say here and you are doing it respectfully, but that starts to get weird in terms of implications if you really think it through.

Best not to speculate too much around these sorts of things.

Joseph, you just stoled my words...

Do not mean to be funny in the middle of this tragedy, but if Jim takes this to Recon, this is more serious any one of us may imagine. And one can speculate that the "lunchbox" camera company's division may just disappear in the very front of our eyes. And I repeat, I am not trying to be funny, but trying to hold my million-miles-per-hour thoughts about what detail of R&D information COULD have been stolen from Red. This could really be an epic tragedy...
 
Yes, pleaded guilty would be a more accurate headline.
 
Stealing, corporate espionage, actions to create a perceived competitive advantage . Seems so arcane. Open communication, intelligence and integrity are much stronger forces. It amazes me how blind/stupid some people can be. At least the Feds are on it and an example will be made. But he and any co-conspirators never stood a chance against the strong and connected Red community.
 
It does seem to be snowballing - from a small item into something that has made Jim unhappy and, eventually, angry as it has quickly expanded...

I feel a storm brewing.
 
I am going to try to get some sleep... then tomorrow transfer this discussion to Recon.

It is 2:40am here. I really will have a hard time sleeping over this.

I'm left numb reading this thread - sickening on both a corporate and personal privacy level. Legal action will help, but never fully remedy stuff like this. My thoughts go out to you.
Time to press the RED button against the perpetrators....

Yikes, sometimes more can be said when it's not said.

In this case, just the feeling and tone alone is so grave, it's disheartening without even
having to hear the facts. It's tangible.

Praying for s swift resolution of all this .....
