  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MEIZLER MODULE "Everything has changed"

Is this a new quote from Jarred that got deleted or something?

...I think you will be very happy with the new direction we headed. It is not just a slight tweak by changing lanes, but a complete U-turn, off the road into the ditch and back up the other side kinda change.

How is this not BIG news?

See Steve's post above.

craziness

I hope RED reconsidered and made the meizler in modules as follows.

1. +1 module.
2. A/V wireless transmission module.
3. Offcamera module / remote proxy and sound recording module preferably with a touchscreen. possibility to run from Volts or Vmount, or AC power and all the rest.
4. Wireless lens control module.
5. AC / Director wireless units to go with normal epic touch screens and revolts allowing changing settings for camera and or playback controls for the off camera proxy module...

Please Jared, we know you can slap the above together in no time :)

Good. I hope the new version looks more integrated with the Epic body. The original looked pretty horrific.

:) Björn, that would definitely be a u-turn!

As i see it using bolt and pix 240 off camera (connected to a bolt reciver) and you got a smaller camera and the most important features of the meizler. Only bit missing then is shooting timecode and sound back to camera...

Even if it would be kind of a big make over, I think all the bits are there and I would rather have a small SDI receiver that we could use with an extra touch screen than the red ipad clap thing.

Nice to have the big touch connected and then a red element focus unit attached to that as well, the ipad thing is not allowing video input in a good way.

We have worked with the pix240 of camera and I think it's really a nice way to go. Have not tested it with the bolt, I'm afraid that there will be some comunication / trigger issues when making the SDI wireless but nothing red could solve. :)

Great idea. Id support this.

It works great. The BOLT now supports timecodes, run/stop trigger and R3D filename - all wireless - zero delay - one-to-many receivers.

This such a NO BRAINER, practical solution.
Should have/ could have been developed about 6 years ago.
Just about every camera owner would buy one, as well as a bunch of post houses.
It would make life good for thousands of Red's customers, and Red would sell a bunch more cameras... which would mean selling even more of these Off-Camera units... etc.

Doen't every SDI recorder out there do that already? AJA, Atomos, Convergent, etc... they are all off camera recorders and give all formats necessary..
