How about "lion in the night"?

Jarred has given you pre-release software. Scarlet footage would not be supported yet by 3rd parties.
Jim
The footage was nice and sharp. Definitely good to work with. There is some noise in the darker areas, which was fine for 800ASA. However in a recent interview with TED he said the camera was comfortable and usable in the very high iso settings...up to 5000-6400 I think...a figure I find very hard to believe given what I see here.
be beware of the werelion:scared:

Oh... Someone forgot to tell Quantel that.

Usable does not necessarily mean noise-free.
I don't normally geek out like this but I was really curious to see this footage, its sharpness and its latitude.
I've posted a proreshd file of my grade at: http://www.victorvega.com/felix/felix_graded_ps.mov

My questions fall mainly with the fixed lens and chip size. Frankly, a Lion is pretty damn huge...and even though there is a nice DOF here I'm thinking that the falloff in normal circumstances (a persons face for example) would be considerably less. This is totally fine, but DSLR DOF fetishists and those used to a S35 chip might feel restricted, especially if the fixed lens isn't really, really fast.
Overall though, it's a nice example of the capabilities of the camera. I just wish these things would get out in the world already. Its been a long, long time and the world really isn't waiting around...a fact everyone at RED is painfully aware of I'm sure.
Never said it did, but with a fixed lens system you are stuck with a lot of variables. If the lens isn't really fast then the iso has to be...and the less noise the better as you know very well. If that lens is in the t2's vs the 4's its much less of a concern.
In no way am I criticizing. It's all cutting edge stuff and my interest is piqued. I shoot FILM, REDMX and F35 all the time on some pretty high budge stuff and a week ago there wouldn't be a chance in hell I would even consider a fixed lens camera...especially one with a tiny little chip. Now I'm grading footage and liking what I'm seeing.
Think it'll be a very popular camera if it can get into peoples hands at the right price point before the world catches up.
I dunno if this ok to say, but as incredible this is for a 6-ish k - dollars cam - which I will want, this is also not all bad news for the current RED1 4k owners...
