  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

Promised myself after the Raven/May announcement post (as I'm awaiting a Scarlet-W) that I'd stop obsessively checking the forums for allocation updates...and then this happens.

So how are those 4.7" DSMC2 LCDs coming along?
 
Thanks for the update Jared. As a long time Red user and fanatic, the Raven will be hitting the high sky's soon enough on my drone rig. Hoping my January order sneaks into the may catch up month.

Man that's dope, upgrading S-W to Weapon for free? Who does that?

Jarred/Brent - at this point I'm just way too in need of my Red to come in as I've got projects booked that are going to need a camera - I'd take an Epic Dragon if they are around! S-W time stamp Jan 11, Raven to S-W switcher. Help a brother out - these gigs are basically going to pay off my S-W, or potentially lose that amount of cash! Obviously everyone here is smiling at the chance of a free upgrade, and that's cool but in reality I just need to have my camera here in time to avoid missing out on serious cash, don't need the MG just S-W or equivalent by 3rd week of May.

Hey Alain, if you need a camera ASAP, you can take my S-W and I'll take your place in line for the MG, LOL.

Only half joking... In all seriousness, I am willing to trade! :)

Not being a dick gets rewarded. We can all learn from that.
 
My initial reaction to this forum was definitely upset but I figured there was no use in adding negativity to the forum. After taking some time away and hearing out Jarred's reasoning it all makes sense and as he said, there won't be much of a time difference for us Scarlet guys anyway. Guess the guys making our cameras do know what they're doing, don't they? :) Great news to those who got PM'd and I can't believe companies like this even exist anymore! Crazy!

Jarred, point of correction, I think you started that years back with Phil moving to Dragon upgrade quite earlier than usual, you stated it loud and clear that Phil deserves to be among the first to receive the Dragon upgrade back from his Scarlet MX days and I think 101% of the RU community agreed with your move back then. However, I remember my lottery jackpot late 2014 when I read about 21 Dragon lottery that went primarily through your fb page, only snag was I read it 2 days later and I was sad all day however, my wife encourage me to contact my bomb rep, who categorically told me it was all gone but he did still put out a word for me. I was shocked when I received a mail next day that I got one, and more shocked that the camera read less than 5mins of usage when I received it! I could swear its a BRAND NEW camera RED sent me. And to put it perspective, I was just trying to save up 19k to upgrade from Scarlet MX to Epic Dragon, and now for just 21k (2k above the upgrade) I get to receive a new camera and keep the old one which BTW still makes rental money for up till date (though quite low in terms of frequency).
RED has always been helping people change lives whether we admit it publicly or not.

You dont have to kiss ass or even help (if you don't have the capacity to help there's nothing you can do) but I have learnt that RED guys would bend over backwards to help when you express genuine concern. I remember meeting Shawn and some wonderful RED folks at Photokina 2014, and I told them I like to get myself and my assistant to attend a REDucation. It might seem small to most people here but trust me, when you come from Africa, securing a US visa approval might seem like a once in a lifetime lottery winning. You will not believe the MASSIVE amount of help I received from the RED folks, I am talking HR team here. It so humbling that a company would go out to help a random African with just one camera purchase (Scarlet MX at the time) like I am PJ or Fincher! Guys, if you have an idea how much the RED folks, especially your bomb reps would go over for anyone, am sure everyone would be all big smiles, not just the lottery winners!

Alessandro, if you look at my first post in this thread, we are asking only people with first day or so SCARLET-W orders request loaners... A Jan 11 order date is just too far back in line...

completely understand, there's probably more than a few people in front of me that should get their loaners before even considering sending me one, I'm just in a bit of a jam as a conversation with my rep and a fellow S-W buyer from T.O. who was allocated just before the break led me and my rep to assume that it would be here before my first prep day and it was booked on that assumption. Yes - my fault, I was just trying to see if there was any luck getting some help from you guys as it seems like you and Jarred are in a good mood over there (with the handing out MG upgrades and all). Just to be clear, not kissing ass or asking for a free upgrade just trying to figure out if there's any way to sort this with you guys before having to rent one to cover.
 
I don't know for you guys but that decision excited me so much, I was not able to work the whole day!
Seeing a company with such demands doing this kind of action is the way I want to run mine.
Thats all about sharing passion, make people happy.

No matter being upgraded or not, that's a great entrepreneurship and life lesson
