  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

March shipment Update - Weapon, Scarlet-W, Raven

Any timeline update for us scarlet dragon owners who ordered?

Jarred, I think this is something many of us have asked you already... will there be a gold mount base expander for the Weapon?
 
I've decided that the Reduser forums are a brainchild of the Red Sales and Marketing people. Hear me out. Camera is announced. Pre-orders and expected dates announced. The forums hype the allocation dates. We all compare timestamps. Jarred and Brent both inform and interact. We get more excited because that's just badass. We head to the Red site and see what new accessories are available. Since our SW hasn't been allocated and money is in the bank per se, we buy accessories to fill the burning void in our heart until the brain/package comes.
It's good stuff. It's my first Red and I've got as much $ in extra stuff as the SW itself. Well played Red. Well played. :)
 
Jarred, I see Ravens will be going up in price after NAB. Will Scarlet-Ws?

I pray they don't. I think where they are at in pricing is just PERFECT. Out of reach of beginners, but economical for those of us that are serious, but small enterprises.

I only ask because I have one on preorder, but once it comes in, I plan on hustling like hell with it to fund a second camera.
So please don't raise the price so I can throw more money at you!!! lol
 
This news is quite tremendous and extremely informative. I've lurked on the forums from time to time in the past, but I've checked it daily until I put in my order for raven and switched to S-W. Can't wait for the Scarlet-W to arrive and start adding to the great collection of content from this community.

Cheers and kudos to Jarred, Brent, and the entire RED staff. Exciting times!

I don't think there's any easy way around this. Pretend that Raven doesn't exist, and instead apply this scenario to Scarlet- W. In other words, as a hypothetical, you placed your Scarlet-W order on day one... then a little bit later a preorder announcement for the new "Scarlet-Z" camera comes out. And it's 6K! And more expandable! And records 4K ProRes! More bells and whistles! And on top of that, it's scheduled to ship before your new Scarlet-W! What? Ouch! That stings. You'd probably really appreciate the opportunity to spend your money on the thing you really want.

Again, waiting for goodies is not fun for anyone, and it would be awesome if all orders could have been filled in February - but just saying that there are always multiple sides to a story.

and remember, raven preorders started in sept! so raven buyers have been waiting A LOT longer, the fact that there is even a scarlet-w in the mix, announced after raven and delivered before raven is crazy and a bonus.

Mine won't be delivered before Raven, and I ordered within minutes of Scarlet-W being available. If there is an Epic-W, (I hope) it too will cost even more, but I will buy it. My Bombsquad dood told me that if I were to change my order to something else not yet announced...I will keep the timestamp I currently have. So, maybe I will end up glad that my Scarlet-W most likely won't arrive until after NAB.

exactly, you will get the same benefit that raven preorders did on the switch.
but a lot of scarlet did ship! for a camera that didnt even exist before the raven was announced.
so epic-w people that order right away are going to be mad at you if they gets theirs first, haha!

Not exactly. The difference for me is I will buy both Scarlet-W and Epic-W.

Likely wouldn't be called that. Also, likely during NAB expect an announcement, like Jarred mentioned, unless he is getting real loose.

still my only question and last question(until i have the camera) is if you ordered a brain or pkg determine your allocation. like it did with scarlet, but now with the accessories available, hopefully it doesnt, because i had ala carte going, but now seems like the pkg will be the only thing to actually get me going right away.
plus, a raven case???? oh sorry, that's two questions.

Yes, if you are a la carte and a brain is ready, it ships. A package needs to ship complete, so accessory availability can hold up the entire package shipment.

One of the reasons we are probably going to focus on collections on RED.com versus bundles. Collections, you can edit the exact products you are getting. And they don’t need to ship complete, so you get what you get when ready. Bundles, I know a little bundled discount helps you and bundles help our supply chain forecast, but they really are a b*tch to administer as well as inflexible for you guys to create the exact package you want. The feedback I am getting is that flexibility trumps small discounts every time. Especially if you are getting a discount, but parts come with the bundle you don’t want. But, I digress…

We are feeling pretty good that we can make a case part of RAVEN bundle, just dialing it in for final call.

V-Lock Base Expander? Yes, people have gotten it. Production on that ramps up later this month.

Mentioned this on another thread. SCARLET DRAGON owners who did the SCARLET-W package do get a bump in priority, but still plan this month being folks who moved from RAVEN to SCARLET-W with pre-SCARLET announcement order dates.
 
Even though I have a CF Weapon, and likely will pick up an Mg Weapon soon. I am abnormally excited for this Raven shipment. Can't wait to see what we will do with it.

You said also that some scarlet dragon owners were blasted if I understood right. So it stops until next month? And who were the lucky ones?

That's not what he said, he described what this month's plan was. New cameras as far as I know are shipping on a daily/weekly basis as the tetris blocks fall into place with upgrades, new orders, and all that.
 
The Scarlet-W as most of you know is already shipping and manufacturing lines have settled into a pretty nice stride with cameras flowing out in increasing numbers every day. We have had a very large group of Raven customers jump into Scarlet-W so if you are in that switch-over group, I am pretty comfortable saying you should be receiving your cameras by the end of this month.

Are we talking brain only orders? Or packages as well?
 
Hi Brent

Any updates on the I/O V-Lock battery incompatibility issues? Do you feel most reputable 3rd party V-Mounts will be compatible like before? Is the V-Mount I/O a bit different than before in that it powers the camera directly without cables so it's a bit more complicated?
