  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Manufacturing Redefined...

13 minutes for Epic? It is minimum 20 cameras a day! 20 working days a month!
Can we talk about minimum 300 Epic -X per month?
 
Great images, thanks for the tour. Just for grins, what is the average build time for a RED 1?

Precisely the thought that came to my mind as well. But then realized, that since mine is already about to ship, it might be boxed and beyond this stage.

Although I'm Northern European, still recognize the value of this. Especially it's encouraging and delightful to witness that creative brain work is still so competitive in this world.

Nah, he's just showing some pride in a hometown product. Much like folks in the UK would do the same for Aston Martin or other locally produced goods. We all know it's a global economy.

BTW, Jarred, I'm thinking the lab coats need to be Vanson type leather jackets or similar. RED needs to sell that kind of jacket in the store. I'd buy one.

1. Nice to see you guys back with fun stuff! Knew we couldn't keep Jim down... and thanks for the great photos.

2. Tell the folks sitting in that room we say thanks, OK?

If I ever meet someone in the bar in LA and they say they work on the RED assembly line, I'm buying them a beer for sure. Or are they not allowed to say what they do?

Um, can you figure out some kind of code word they can say without giving anything away so that Redusers can identify them and buy them beers anyway?

On the other hand... maybe you don't need your entire camera-building staff wandering around with awful hangovers the whole time :)

Not posted for a while just sitting in the background looking forward to the 3rd November, very impressive line pics.

Awaiting what will happen on the 3rd and placing an order after many years of waiting :-)
 
Thinking that every 13 minutes an EPIC is born make me smile!

I heart this company and all that "leave it on the field" with each work day. The vibe Jim, Jarred and crew put out remind me of how our parents and parents' parents would do it. A work ethic that seems to be short of nothing and full of everything I long to be.
 
Very impressive. The interiors remind me of Mclaren Technology Center, and that's as good as you can get.

Here is a peak at just a single row in the process... a small slice of what goes on around the clock in our California manufacturing plant.

It really is magical to watch these guys and girls building the tools we all depend on. Someday we will need to open it up for tours :)
