  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Manufacturing Redefined...

And people wonder why I love Red! The products speak for themselves. And.... we really didn't deserve to see all the cool inside stuff. But... (wipes tears from eyes) they still let us.

Really Cool!

Somewhere in all that brilliance lies a camera I will own someday.

Not impressed. I'd be more impressed if it were a couple of sweaty guys out in the back shed tinkering around with a soldering gun who were cranking out the most advanced camera in the world. Now that would be impressive.

...hope you recognize sarcasm when you see it because that is F*$KING IMPRESSIVE!

That is 150 Epics per week. IF there is only 1 line. IF there is only 1 shift..... Did I not read "Round the clock" in his post :)

If my assumption is true, that really might have been my Epic-X StgII on that shelf :) (Wishful thinking of course :)

And that's just another reason it will be a joy to give some of my $ to RED. Creating real jobs,

Hmm, if we all take that approach then there are far more non-US purchasers than US ones.

So are you saying that I should rush out and Buy ARRI? or that our Asian colleagues should buy Sony?

13 minutes per epic is roughly 4 epics an hour means each day nets 32 epics (let's round down to 30)

That's 150 epics built a week, folks.

Impressive.

13 minutes if everybody in the line stands and watch the whole thing, the first guy probably starts on a new brain when he has done his part.
Or if they do one from start to finish, there seem to be more than one guy there...

This is so damn impressive!

Jarred if you see this, please tell the people in the plant that they kick ass, I guess you already do that, but that we all around the world thinks so to, since they are busy building cameras I guess they don't hang at reduser all day... =)

Very nice. Quite impressive.

Just to do the math an 8 hour shift on one production line will churn out 36 of these a day. (I'm assuming a 9 hour workday, with 1 hour lunch)

Three shifts like that is 108 cameras a day, or 540 Epic X cameras per week.

Per assembly line

I have no clue if Red has more than one assembly line ... just mentioning it for completions sake.

Then again, if Red does have more than one assembly line, I'm guessing that they are probably getting ready for Scarlet on some of them.

They are wearing standard ESD jackets. The colours are mostly white or blue. Haven't seen a RED coloured ESD jacket. However, the colour doesn't impact the properties of the ESD jacket. May be someone else will suggest the operators to wear RED jeans as well. :)

I guess this is one Cell engaged in making one camera at a time. Later on they can set up another Cell as the learning curve increases.

Cheers,

Extremely impressive and clean. Cutting construction time down to 13 minutes is amazing. Is that with camera electronics testing and burn in as well?

Oh. And I noticed something was missing in the first photo :)

Great shots! I think mine has already been through that room.

What were those photos taken with?

Looks like a FF 3:2 aspect ratio on those shots.

Maybe that's the Easter egg. :)

Man this hurts for the first time in my entire work life I have seen a camera that I will
own being built. This makes an emotional connect. Thanks Jarrad for posting.
