  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Manufacturing Redefined...

Looks great. Made in the USA like made in Switzerland used to mean something. That's a big achievement. Especially today.

You need only 13 mins to build an Epic. So how much time does the testing etc till a camera is ready to ship take?

Tim

Very pleased to be a part of this. The new slogan at here at Osprey, "If you don't make dust, you eat dust" wouldn't be possible without RED. Looking forward to adding the EPIC to the arsenal.

Are all the modules build here too? Like, is it all under one roof now?

With the state of our current economy, its nice to see jobs being created in the US. Thanks for the sneak peek.

I wanna see the top secret BIG room next door where they're building a stockpile of 10,000 Scarlets to ship on Nov. 4

Incredible. Loved the pictures. It's so cool to see the inside of the Epic and see how much stuff goes in there!

It feels like when I was waiting for my Red for the first time, but with two big differences. Now I have a Redone with me!!! And I see the photos from the trenches!!

So now of course Jim I have to ask. :emote_couch:

Since you guys seem to have everything shorted out, timing, logistics and are pumping these beauties at 13min rate! Could you give us a rough estimate as when can we expect Stage 3 to start shipping? You guys are doing the impossible here by making the best camera ever and building it in 13 minutes. So How difficult can be to estimate time? That's a piece of cake right????

I wish I'd be now on Stage-2 as I know it will be very sad to return my Redone. I got quite attached to it. I never let her go out without me, ever. I'm a jealous guy what can I say. But as a 1 man bad dp/operator couldn't afford to keep her and stage 3 was such a great deal. Thanks for that.

Anyway, any rough estimate would be great as I have few projects coming up soon, that would be great for the Epic HDRX.

Thanks again for the photos. I Don't get tired of watching them over and over.

Incredible... I'm in the line for the visit too :)
Cheers and what a great JOB!

And IIRC, didn't Jim say that 85% of the components are made here as well?

Regardless, just another proof that pride in your abilities and the talent available and, as mentioned elsewhere, passion can make a world class product HERE! (And to be clear, Red is just the latest as there are an amazing number of world leading products made here)

Jarred,
There was a time when the colour Red was closely associated with communism and was highly detested. You guys are changing mindsets and perceptions.

I am closely involved in electronic manufacturing here in India, and I understand the enormity of the task.

You guys are doing pretty good work. Great going!

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Don't worry.. Red ESD jackets are coming. It seems Just like everything else that we do, we had to get them custom made. I guess RED just isn't normal ;)

VERY pleasing to see the level of progress RED has made in such an extremely short time. Looking Forward to N3!

Very interesting, thanks for the peak inside the magic labs. Lots of the so called "big" companies can learn from you.
If i ever get a chance to come to states, i'm all in for a tour.

You guys doing the MATH are forgetting a couple things.

1. Jarred clearly stated this is a slice of workers, working "round the clock" which assumes 24 hour days, meaning 3 (8- hour shifts)
2. 13 minute assembly time is PER TEAM so you need to multiply the per/hour by X number of teams.
3. Red has also eluded to expanding capacity with statements like "we are just getting started"

SUMMARY: Your MATH IS WAY OFF :)

You may be right. Perhaps by some point in October they will have caught up on outstanding Epic orders. In that case they could devote an increasing amount of capacity to building up a stockpile of Scarlets in anticipation of the flood of orders in November. My guess would be that is what RED would like to do.
