  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Macgregor and crew, Salt Flats Utah

RED Alert is fine for clips... but dealing with dozens and dozens of cards full of dozens and dozens of clips rapidly becomes confusing. Without a visual way of sorting through these data, it is a time-consuming process to find the clips you're looking for. Add on that they're going to cut using Vegas [requiring an export to play on a peecee] and RED Alert doesn't really cut it for this situation.

I can't wait for REDCINE. :)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Gus Van Sant...an artist... now that's comedy

Maybe you don't like him. But obviously he is a film artist, especially if you compare him with the mainstream American films that are "deeply clogged" in a commercial mud.
Today to be an artist it doesn't mean that you have to be poor. To be an artist it means that you have to have a certain valuable idea. People who don't have an idea they are faking, cloning (or stealing idea from the other artists) and trying to make some sort of commercial clips and movies. And they want to gain success and be a famous. Isn't it ridiculous? It's not an issue of success, it's about creativity, originality and honesty in one way. That was exactly what I pointed out in this tread before (and I deleted that opinion just to keep tread going on without that criticism...but you could find it in the "quotes"...).

Just to give you an idea what the real artists like Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Gus Van Sants and Harris Savides A.S.C. were doing at the same location in 2002 shooting "Gerry" movie.

Sanjin,

While I agree that Gerry is a Fantastic movie (one of my faves) your attack on Macgregor is unprovoked and I just dont get it!

If you dont like his work, then fine, keep it to yourself. This is an examination of the footage which he has kindly posted. Not a thread to discuss your personal dislike for someone's directing style.

It's almost like you're trying to 'educate' everybody, it comes across in a lot of your posts. Clearly you have some kind of god complex.....

Sanjin,

...Clearly you have some kind of god complex.....

Ha ha I am not a god. I am philosopher. I just try to think about something before I consume it. By the way this tradition started with Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and German idealism. Or even started long ago in Western philosophy with Presocratic philosophers.

Just take it or leave it. Hopefully we are still living in a free part of the world.

you're funny!

but lets not forget that for all the cinematic good Gus has committed to the screen, he also remade Psycho....

Back onto the thread. The images look stunning. I really liked Similo and I'm looking forward to this one too.

Sanjin,

No excuses, no philosophies...please!!

When you attack someone's work like you did......you just sound terribly sad and disllusional.

Schizopolis

Schizopolis

Sanjin,

No excuses, no philosophies...please!!

When you attack someone's work like you did......you just sound terribly sad and disllusional.

Ha ha, the philosophers were almost always prosecuted in society. The most people described them like a sad person, eccentric, etc...

On the contrary I am happy and just a normal.

More about philosophy and movies you could read in the book

"Philosophy goes to the movies" by Christopher Falzon LINK >> Amazon >>

Someday, when Sanjin gets his RED and posts his work, you, Macgregor and the rest of the world, will have the chance to do exactly the same.

Regista you are totally right.

To continue to "torching" you with 'art'.

Have you ever seen "Schizopolis (1996)" by Steven Soderbergh?

Demiurg

Demiurg

Hi David,

if you don't believe to yourself (even pathological) then you became a follower of somebody world concept.

Just choose to be by yourself or to join a crowd of followers (that sound pretty mediocre).

Or in another words you are strong by yourself or you are a weak and you need a help from the other

"DEMIURG/The Demiurge, The Craftsman or Creator"?

Current downloads are soon over.

I am shutting down the server in an hour.

For all of you interested in "Gerry" movie and extras can buy DVD at

wow that is a horrible cover. They need to make better looking covers. it doesn't do the movie justice. Brokeback Mountain has a better cover.

did someone say...?

did someone say...?

I have a feeling that camera assistant is going to get a lot of job offers ;)

Hello guys of the RedUser Forum! Heard about this site through the superamazing-tech-guru Brook, our second Redgenious on the shoot with Mac and Zac (the first was Blair Paulsen).

What an amazing experience, not only to get up close and personal with the RedCamera, but to work with such a talented director team and for me, especially, to work with such a talented DP. After watching Similo and 18 Seconds, I knew this film was going to have a high production quality.

MacGregor is meticulous, and pays attention to every detail- from the specific placement of the actresses´¨capucha¨(you non-spanish speakers can look that one up) to the placement of the tiniest decal on the Hummer. He is always focused, concentrated, and always searching for the best angle from which to shoot, (even if that means for me, to move him four times before he finds the angle!) Just don´t give him a vegetable (inside joke).

The crew on this shoot was awesome. It was an experience that filmmakers dream of.... well, at least for me.

Oh, and who can say no to a job offer? It´s juliana@finefilmstudios.com if you need a RedAC.

Signing off from the end of the world.... and from a lot of salt....

Mozart and Salieri

Mozart and Salieri

Now I am finishing to think about Macgregor (and similar guys and girls)
just to remind you on the famous story of Mozart and Salieri.
In this case Mozart or Amadeus could be Gus Van Sants and Macgregor could be a pure Salieri.

Antonio Salieri

I wish that RED like a tool will get more
in the hands of cinema Mozarts than Salieries.

Take it or leave it.

It was just my 2 cents.

sanjin, you're one of my fav here.. you're a convincted person.. but with convictions.. not a sheep.. this is your trade mark.. you're an example.. not an a$$hole.. another one..

but unfortunately i should echo some words already posted before..

don't attack the most valuable red footage poster!! your attacks are just a suicide..

he's one of us.. not a star.. only our star.. mine too.. his style is not important here.. just outside.. and only for him.. and his audiences.. what does it matter to you?.. you're being the jerk part of the envious teammate and this doesn't please me because i'm used to like you.. and all your posts.. with this exception that confirms the rule, however..

he has posted the most beautiful footage.. he's not saying "from the first day's shoot we did about a month ago (been busy, sorry!)" and this is what counts.. not to be mozart or salieri.. both count.. if not, you wouldn't be here to talk about them.. both

:sheep: don't play the part of salieri at very least with macgregor..
