@jim
Here we have spirit2k arriscan6k telecines Pablo Lustre to celco/arrilaser print and DCP, all the DI process with a lot of diferent machines/manufactures/systems.. from inferno unix 1998 to smoke lion OSx 2013
We only have mac because all the clients(producers) work in mac finalcut and QUICK TIME PRORESS.
I would love to see DNxHD or any other free/open format/codec being standard.
But studios and TV channels and producers work on mac based on quicktime proress.
PC windows are cheaper, faster and you have the freedom to creat and change your setup with a lot of diferent developers/vendors.
Apple make you hostage... just to say the almost 3 years noves where the finalcut pro 7 been kill and the mac pro desktop until now without USB3, thunderbolt.....
One more thing..
we work here with HD tif or 2k/4K dpx sequence files...a movie reel has 18000 files...if i ckick the folder on pc i can see the files in 1 second... on MAC i click the folder and go to lunch. Also DPX on MAC :thumbdown:
