  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

M-X at ISO 2000...

Cinéma vérité will be Epic.

For those of you that are interested, this footage reminds me of the struggles Stanley Kubrick had to endure to be able to shoot in candle light for the night interiors on Barry Lyndon. Look on page 437 of The Stanley Kubrick Archives (Taschen) for details or in the March 1976 issue of American Cinematographer for a more in-depth look at what he was up against. I'm convinced that Stanley Kubrick would have owned Red #002 had he lived to see Red come to fruition.

I asked this on another thread and haven't received a reply so I'll ask it here as well, seeing that my question is directly related to this particular shot.

Will the 2/3 Scarlets', seeing as they will also have the M-X within their frames, be just as capable at grabbing, jaw dropping images such as these.

Gorgeous. Can't wait to see what one of these can do at about 90 feet underwater and without lights.

That is a real marvel, Mr. Jannard!

(that was me.. red boots, jeans, black jacket with Tom Clancey who asked you about seeing the RAW file of this shot during the morning group--I was just telling Tom I'd love to see the RAW to see what grading was done..). Truly blown away!

Since then been in contact with Jonathan Smiles...I enjoyed seeing the first M-X footage from UK on the big screen yesterday! (I'm not sure if the grading on the VW snow shot for the reel did it justice.. you guys lost a lot of detail in the darker values...but that's my purely subjective take on it.)

(pink gloss Epic!)

Copy you alex, never had the chance to take my R1 below the surface but should sing with MX.

I dont know if this is suppose to influence us R1 owners to keep our R1s, if so...its working. :)

Wow, just incredible. Practically no noise in the dark hallway in the background

As I understood that's what was being said. All the M-X sensors will be able to do shots with this kind of sensitivity. The things that will change between Epic and Scarlet will be sensor size, REDcode and frame rates. I could be wrong but that's what I understood.

blown away...

blown away...

:emote_head_explode:blown away...ISO2000, never thought we would ever shoot anything at ISO2000 and actually have a usable image....

Oh God I Want One Now.

I will be a sweaty, mumbling wreck until I can Get an MX sensor in my greedy hands.

Well I tell you what "IF" thats the case I am throwing my ENTIRE gear fund towards the Scarlet, sadly as of this moment I can't afford the EPIC, one day though, and will shoot until my hearts content.

I'm gonna make EPIC films with my Scarlet.

Did you see what I did there:crazy::smilielol5::001_tt2:

hoho...damn. This is serious noiseless...any quicktime prores we can see ?

man, im sorry I missed this RED DAY, but had to work... which allows me to pay for this
cool new tech... this is just incredible... low noise is great, but am I the only one to notice the
DETAIL IN THE HIGHLIGHTS of the flame? Upgrade = NO BRAINER
