  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

M-X at ISO 2000...

Hey, this shot looks familiar :-)

Great shot Jim, thanks for sharing!

Keylight 1 match and it looks clean and beautiful! This much cooler then MI-6 ever could have built=)

What Jim didn't tell us is that the match is a top-secret RED-Match that uses graeme's color science to emit 10000000000000000 lumens. And it also uses bluetooth.

:D

Leo and Fincher did this as a favor... I guess I owe them. :-)

We'll post the motion as soon as we can figure out how to pay the SAG fees. Even though no one charged us for this... fees must be paid.

There was another DP there with you guys (insanely talented guy) whom I worked with this past Saturday. He told me about this and my brow just kind of remained knitted the entire day. The way he described it, as the match "Flared" Leo's face lit up and the other portion of the footage where there was only one source light (can't WAIT to see that)... it was very easy to imagine which made it seem impossible... However...

It's just like I imagined it and everything he raved about. Wow.

Good stuff, RED team.

Wow! Now I understand why Michael Bravin changed his avatar.:smilielol5:

Holy shit. The Dynamic range in this shot is very hard to believe.

This changes everything. Again.

Shorting stocks in several companies this year....

NIce Jim... very nice.
Blowing everything...
serious now -Am I the first south brother to get the tattoo? :smilielol5::emote_head_explode:

BEst Regards and keep coming

A little late but happy 2010 RED fellas!!:auto:

PM me if you want help with the signatory contracts. I'd love to help you guys in any way possible.

Eye Witness

I can't wait to see these pictures move...

Saw this M-X footage projected by Sony's new T series 4K projector at Stage 4 RED Hollywood.
Two days later my colleagues and I are still talking about what we witnessed, "Can you believe..."

NTSC standards denote <7.5% on the waveform monitor is a black signal.
The M-X sensor while recording in total darkness shows flat line reportedly <1%. Seemingly noiseless.

This is a significant breakthrough for low light digital 3D acquisition since noise in stereo is very evident.
May also produce significant improvement in low light underwater results.
Especially if it reduces the aliasing effect of Snell's Window on digital picture noise.

What next?

Amazing footage. Does this same 13+ stops of dynamic range apply to all MX sensors? Including the 2/3 versions?

Absolutely amazing. Makes me drool even more over the S35 Scarlet in my not too distant future.

Also, I think you sold a lot more MX upgrades for the R1 just by posting this pic...

This was shot by David Fincher on a RED ONE with a Mysterium-X sensor at ISO 2000 and a Master Prime at T 1.3 (or slightly stopped down from there). Key light is only a match. When the match goes out, Leo's face goes black.

There is absolutely no noise reduction in this shot.

Jim

Absolutely fantastic!

Wow! Now I understand why Michael Bravin changed his avatar.:smilielol5:

Ha ha ha ha he he he heeeeh! :smilielol5:

BTW., using Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 that's actually T 1.0 (True f stop) you could still see Leo's face and eyes (or details in shadows)...

Looking forward to give a test proof about that (probably not with Leo) when I get M-X upgrade one day....

Congratulations to you and all the members of the Red team, this is a incredible accomplishment.

Does anyone know if the read/reset time is better when doing upgrade to M-X in a RED ONE? I'm guessing that's something built into the sensor and that it will improve with the RED ONE also - not just Epic.

Excuse my French, but:

This looks like that the near future will make it possible to do a night exterior shot just with battery powered LED lights.
