  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

less than? meaning maybe by morning? :)

I like this "time travel" feeling when I wake up and log on to this board and get to read such posts by Jim who isn't sleeping yet and is still working to get us the goodies! :)
Bring it on!

this is so nice! Is it going to be as easy to dowgrade to b15 if there are any problems with 16?

There is no turning back... you won't have any desire.

Great news Jim.

If you were to put a 1 to 10 scale on all BETA releases so far, how confident are you with Build 16 right out of the box being used on commercial projects? (10 being best of course)

From my outside opinion, it seems like your teams has done a great job of Q/C on this build maybe more than previous ones, or maybe it's just the nature of working everything out over time. Not sure.

In any case, we're all looking forward to testing it right away...

will 2001-upwards have build 16 on board?

So I should happily load it onto all my cameras and take them into production?

Or can I simply load it onto a camera for fun and then downgrade to build 15?

Or will working cameras be "stuck" out of the beta since it's bad to put a beta build on set but B16 can't be downgraded?

All this marking rocks and everything, but I'm still very confused as to how to handle the beta... Any recommendations? Or will they be a part of the release notes?

Just don't want to let excitement paint my cameras into a corner.

Oh boy am I excited! If only the API would be ready soon, so I can really upgrade my camera :) If we are giving out precise dead-lines today, what about an estimate until when the API will be included in the Beta, hehe!

Yeepeee !!!

So all the build 15 bugs are gone, right ?
the codec errors, the hangs when booting, the LCD stutter, audio with phantom power,... ?
Working QT 4K 16/9 proxies.

How far away are REDCine and the PC QT proxies ?

Nils.

EDIT : Found some answers on another thread. But still, about these PC proxies, any news ???
The build is a very complicated upgrade. No going back. You won't want to. RED Alert! is finished, REDCINE should be ready by the end of this week (or weekend). SDK work has begun. Build 16 is very stable (should be, we took so long!). I'd look for tomorrow or Wed. for the beta release.
