  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

How much € +- should a leica r summicron 35mm f2 starting with serial 273 go for?

(I know the ones +31 serial numbers are more desired, not sure why, but someone is selling this one, and I was wondering what would be a fair price)

I just checked the lens out, the front threads are loose. So I ended up not buying the lens. Its probably not a problem, but I Don't want to take a chance.

The seller had also a Leica Leitz Elmar R 35-70mm f3.5 for sale, I tested it, it was in good shape(only no front cap). If anybody is looking for it, you can ask me.

Here's some 4th of July eye-candy. These frames were captured on Epic-W and an early-80s 50mm Summilux while taking long-exposures and adjusting focus.

I specifically chose a vintage 50 Lux BECAUSE it renders lower contrast and less saturated colors.

And here's a detail of the last one from the 8k sensor.

Mark,

That is some badass imagery right there. bad ass!

Wow.

Just great stuff.

Thanks guys! Certainly couldn't have done it the same without the Epic-W and vintage LR 50mm.

Thanks Kazu and Vincent!

Vincent, you know what'd be really cool – capturing fireworks while submerged underwater in one of your custom water housings!

Cheers

I just build my first Leica summicron-R set. But what I noticed that at F2 and F2.8 there is a lot of achromatic abboration on all summicrons it seems. I tested it against my canon 70-200 2.8 L IS lens and that lens has a lot less achromatic abboration and seems a bit sharper as well.
How to prevent/fix this easy. As I am trying to cut some lenses. And I would love to use the leica-R due to size and weight. But if they are really outperformed, then Ill have to go another road.

This is one hell of a good idea!

They're DNGs from a Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro.
Yes that is true. So I used film mode 4.6K 1/4 RAW.

And shooting against something with less contrast (not backlit) would help. But I am often in these situations. And it looks like vintage glass is more affected by this vs modern glass. But heck I even see it in Hollywood films(however they are anamorphic, and I can more easily forgive the lens).
