  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

I used mine modded but not rehoused for a couple of years but found there was too much movement on the mount when using FF. Had them rehoused and couldn't be happier

Hi,

Couple thoughts:

The 19 is superior to the 21.... but getting very pricey these days.

28 has 270 degree focus pull - great lens. v2 better for close up work.

35 and 50 super solid lenses. work horses... maybe better that the sumiluxes.

90 v1 is an absolutely gorgeous portrait lens.

You will have no regrets.

Who did the rehouse?

Finally got my hands on a set of the golden trio, summilux 35, 50, 80. Inlcluding an E67 35 and e55 50. I've been keeping my eyes out on local auctions for a good 5 years now and finally they fell into my lap. Very happy days.

Frustratingly I found a 19mm v2 years ago and sold it since I had nothing to pair it with for so long, back on the market for one now. Price looks like it's almost doubled in the last 5 years? Is this right? Just trying to work out what is reasonable to pay for this lens.

I'm also curious to get opinions - how much these lenses can keep climbing in price? Since I began my hunting around 2015 they continue trending upwards

These are scarce, made with just metal and glass and works with almost every camera around...past, present and future.

It's safe to assume their price will keep climbing, and on top of this, you have to add that in the past months people realized how much rare goods are really worth VS printed monopoly money we all got in our pockets...

Need to pick your brain. Starting my collection soon and need some advice.

Sorry if I missed mention of this in this thread, but has anyone had issues with getting infinity focus on EF Duclos-modded R’s? I’m trying to troubleshoot a set I recently got (mid-80’s 28f/2.8, 35/50/90f/2). They just came back from a second look by Duclos and I’m still having issues on my Gemini. They said they made back focus adjustments and that everything was within spec.
Cross-checked on an Epic and a Canon 5Div, all with similar results: the plane of focus falls around 30-40’, wide open.

I tested further by moving the sensor so infinity was sharp on one focal length and tried another focal length to find the sensor needed to be moved again (sometimes by a fair amount) to get acceptable sharpness at infinity. I further cross-checked this process with five of my six CN-E’s (not the 14!) which all lined up.

Something isn’t adding up here…many thanks for any insight!

It turns out they were over-shimmed…case closed!

Happy holiday to the Leica thread. Enjoy the bokehworks, courtesy of the Summilux-R 50mm on Komodo. :)
