LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Looking for Leica lemarit 19mm v1 spare parts or Leica lens service company in Europe

Looking for Leica lemarit 19mm v1 spare parts or Leica lens service company in Europe

Hi,

I have a Leica elmarit 19mm v1 that has the aperture broken, I was wondering if you have spare pieces for this lens or if you would do the repair for this. What I need is the blades and the spring.
I may be interested in the front glass aswell.

thank in advance,

Diego

Do you guys use a mattebox or french flag often? I feel these lenses as soon as there is any light coming in the direction of the lens, they loose all contrast. While it may work for some things it does not work great for others. So I dont like the idea of using matteboxes. But I saw these french flags who you can mount on top of your camera, and that looks to me a really fast way to rig it up, change lenses etc.

Thanks,

I looked for a very long time for my 19mm v2 with high serial number. Even longer because I was hoping to pick up a Duclos EF cine-modded version. They pop up on eBay very rarely and once or twice in this forum over a year or two but often not V2. I ended up purchasing mine from George Ohara at "Encore Camera / Leica Great Buy" (see link below). Unfortunately I had to go the un-modded route and send the lens in to Duclos to be cine-modded (Leitax EF Mount, 80mm Step-Up Ring, Focus Gear, Collimation, etc.). George was great to deal with and I was able to pick up a very late model 19mm V2 in practically new condition but it wasn't cheap. If he doesn't have what you are looking for in stock he has connections to source them and he found me exactly what I was looking for as I ordered a few focal lengths from him and then sent them all to Duclos.

I got my 19mm v2 from George at Encore Camera too. Pricey for sure, but he was a pleasure to deal with.

So glad you started this thread David, great picts! Was just thinking it'd be nice to have a thread reserved for Leica R imagery.

These first 2 are screenshots from my Scarlet + the 100 2.8 apo (originally 5k & 4k respectively).

Next two are the 180 f4 on my 5D ii, and the last is back to the 100 apo 2.8 on 5D ii. Most were test shots taken around the house.

Wow! The first 2 images are stellar!

Brian,
I realize this was posted a long time ago but I only saw it today. The production was really nice and the story really grabbed me. I needed a Kleenex before it was over. I showed it to my wife and she needed two.
Thanks for sharing it. Mark

After my comment posted I realized it was not linked to the post I was commenting on. So, for clarity, on Page 119 of this thread (dated 6-15-2016) there is a post by Brain Nguyen entitled "Dad Moments".

If you didn't catch it back then, it's worth looking at now.

I bought a LEica-R EF adapter on ebay. But is it possible that this adapter (no glass elements) affects the sharpness of the Leica-R lenses? Or can it only affect infinity focus?

Can someone point me to a post or a link that would have the basics for buying old glass to be converted? Was hoping that the first post on this thread would be like the one for the Zeiss thread, but alas no. Thanks!

since there is no glass element in it it should not affect the sharpness of the lens. Infity focus might be wrong, because of inaccuarcy. also I came across some Leica-R lenses where the Infinity focus was not spot on (remember most of the lenses are old, so there might have something happened over the years. )

I imagine it could potentially add a slight tilt/flex depending how good the adapter is. Actually I am dealing with this right now and am going to compare once I get a Leitax mount (which should be rock solid). I'll report back.

I'm sure this has been discussed. But I'm looking to get an anamorphic adapter for my Leica Rs, and pair with the Komodo. I was wondering if you all had any recommendations.

Hi ! Quick question for Summilux-R 35/1.4 owners (or ex-owners) : Do you think it's worth the actual price of +/- $4500 ? (For a late copy in very good conditions)
I've been really happy with the images of my 50mm and 80mm Summilux-R and I'd like to know what 35/1.4 owners think of it

I’m considering buying a set of the least expensive Leica R lenses.
This would be mostly elmarit 1 or 2 cam lenses of older origin, for use on super 35.

My question is, how inferior are They compared to newer or 3 cam lenses in the same series?
I will need to shoot these wide-open, but I’m not looking for extreme sharpness, just reasonably clean and limited CA.

I’m looking at 21mm super angulon, 28MM, 35mm, 50mm,90mm

Has anybody shot a full feature with a set of cine modded Leica-R vs a rehoused set?

I am concerned that these lenses are too fragile to stand the use of wireless follow focus unless they are rehoused...
