  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Not sure why but it just says

'could not complete your request because the video file could not be opened'. I confess i'm new to the stills side of .r3d workflow
 
First, create an r3d snapshot of the file and then try to open that.

It is possible that the plugin/installer has not been updated for 8k or the beta version.

You can create an export preset for stills with a 16 bit per channel tiff and export FULL resolution. It does not let you set DPI, but you can set that when you open the still in photoshop.

Hi Guys,

I hear great things about the Leica R and I also convincing myself to buy a set however some question/concern still keep me from pulling the trigger. I have listed several points as my main concern below can any body share whether you have the same issue from Leica R ?

- Use on EF mount only, PL mount can but costly to rehouse
- Hard to find new/consistent match
- Durability as they are old glass
- Rentability as it may not impress the customer/producer like big cine lenses
- Easy to flare and CA

Which Leica R to EF adapter do you guys recommend? Mine keeps slipping as I pull focus or use a remote focus with motor. I usually turn torque settings very low to help. Thanks guys

Either get the positive locking mount (on e-bay) and stick with the original mount. or go with a Leitax in Canon or Nikon. Nikon is a complete replacement, the Canon goes overtop the Leica R mount.

My Leica lenses have been cine mod by Duclos lenses, .. they use the Leitax mount and it's solid as a rock.

I still need to send my 35 and 50 to Duclos though

Look for the internal set screws, Over time, with any lens micro vibrations can cause this stuff to loosen and the focus can slip. But get it in front of a lens professional to have a closer look and re-calibrate it.

The thing is, I have a 28mm V2 in perfect conditions and don´t need the V1 anymore. But it is a pity to leave it in this "situation" :(
