  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

If one is using Summicrons C with Weapon 8k which super wide to wide angle still Lecia lenses would be a good match for use in a crash cam environment or on drones?

Mike Brennan

Perhaps a late 24mm F2.8 rom. Not terribly expensive, small, light, good performance, more disposable than other LR wides. For better quality and wider a 19mm 2.8 v2 or 15 2.8 asph are great but pricier. A 28 2.8 v2 would be an excellent not-as-wide option too. For any find one at least late '90s/ post #37... to better match the look and color of the Summicron Cs.

I rarely post my work here but I shot this all on Leica Rs and Dragon so why not. 19mm v2 and 60 macro for the interiors and all 50mm 1.4 for the exteriors.

Epic-W arriving today... cant wait to give it a spin with this Leica R glass!
Coming from Epic-Dragon should be interesting, especially in low light (where I often find myself :)

Will try posting something later this week...

As much as I hate to do it, I'm selling all my Leica-Rs. I'm switching to GH5 and using Panasonic lenses exclusively (almost)... some of which have some Leica glass.

I bought 4 of these from Mark M and the 60mm from Greg M (DigitalFX). I will keep paying attention to this thread though.

Andy, I have GH4s and have a GH5 on order. I've used most of the Lumix lenses and all sorts of vintage lenses. By far the best results have been with the Leica Rs. I'd think twice about letting them go. They add a nice look to a pretty clinical camera.

Good luck!

Nice stuff Jorgen and Dom.

These lenses still blow me away all the time.

Hi guys, it is been a while ;) I just made a vídeo on how to use the Leitax adapters to convert Leica R to Canon Eos mount. I hope it helps some of you. The opening and closing shots where with Red Epic W at 7k. I hope it is helps ;)

Beautiful images, Chris! Curious... what resolution were you shooting? ISO? Grade on RCX? DaVinci? Haven't received my upgrade yet so I'm living vicariously thru those of you have.

Thanks Roddy! I'm also waiting to get allocated for Helium. I shot in 6kff mostly around T2.8, ISO at 250 in camera but brought it down to 200 in post.
Started with REDlogfilm/log3G10. And used one of Shane Hurlbut's golden LUTs to start the grade-everything else was just done in Redcine X.

Just released today, my latest music video:

Shot on Red Epic Dragon 5K with Leica R lenses:

19mm f2.8, 28mm f2.8, 35mm f2.0, 50mm f1.4, 60mm Macro f2.8, 90mm f2.8, 135mm f2.8, 180mm f2.8 and Angénieux zooms 28-70mm and 70-210mm - all in EF Mount and cinevised by TLS in the UK

From the weekend and the first project I directed on my Epic-W + '90s Summilux Set. The lenses used here are 28 v2, 35 1.4 and 50 1.4 at 4k with IPP2 (hope my DP remembers which was which:)

Just a light grade in RCX. So far can't say enough about this Leica R/Epic-W combo. Had a 15 2.8 Asph on-hand but the widest we needed was a 19 v2.

Nice stuff Mark!

Thanks for sharing.

You can sent the 28mm this way anytime. :)

Thanks David!

Yes the 28 v2 is a favorite that doesn't seem to get the love it deserves. Maybe because its sandwiched between the 24 and 35s... or because the 28 v1 is an excellent lens too.
