LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Yowzers!

Sergio,

that is gorgeous. So smooth.

Thanks for posting.

Hey guys. Great thread indeed, awesome examples. I was wondering, has anyone had any experiences with the voigtlander 21mm f1.8? It looks like a great budget option for a fast, wider lens, and was wondering if anyone has used it with R glass successfully, or at all? Sorry i have no pictures to contribute, hopefully soon!

Thanks!

Carlos, it's for Leica-M...so you would have to swap the DSMC Mount between Canon EOS to Leica-M every time you want to reach for it...it's a bit cumbersome...but it can be done of course! ;)

As for color matching...maybe you could try to do some test on still cameras which support both Leica-R lenses and Leica-M like the Sony NEX (A7 A7R FF and even APS-C ones)

90mm summicron if i remember correctly ...we were in the 15th hr..little hazy

That is a nice lens Sergio. I don't have that one in my collection, but I have seen a lot of nice stuff from it. Here are a few from the 35mmLUX.

Here are a few from the 35mmLUX.

Great lighting/contrast and rich, yet subtle colors.

And thanks again for the 35 Lux recommendation. I've found its truly a magical lens, if there ever was one.

You are right, it is really ugly on the left part.
It was a fix setup, 5K FF recording at 1FPS shutter(deg) 3.6, this is why I fucked up I guess. ;-)

Cheers

Awesome image Brice. I was just geeking out there and pixel peeping because I recently bought and returned a V1 that came 'not as described' (putting it mildly) to the point of me questioning the amount of smear in the images it produced, and yours seem much better... and it only makes the decision between v1 and 2 that much harder... :)

That's what s.. nevermind

From a recent flare test on the 100 APO 2.8. Minimal flare and easy to correct if preferred. Top is raw with minor curves, flare minimized below – Scarlet.

I've been thinking of taking the plunge. Probably wont ever make my money back on a $220,000 set.. . but what the hell.

Be aware that the Summilux-C's do not cover Dragon completely at 6KFF. The Summicrons do cover though but at t1.9. About a $100,000 difference between the two.

Sergio, how did you find that photo/info?

It looks like they also offer a 35mm (based on the photo), I'm guessing that would be a 2.0 Summicron as well (like the 50 and 90)?

The good thing with the Leica R is they fully cover the dragon sensor, and a set of summicrons or even summilux is far below 220.000 $

Another great cityscape Brice. Recently I acquired an Apo Telit 180 as heard great things about its resolving ability at greater distances, which your image seems to confirm.

Thanks Mark,
if I remember well the Apo Telyt was design at first for U.S. naval forces for marine surveillance.
So it make sens the lense give so much detail when focusing to infinity. ;-)
Really love this lense.
Cheers

This lense isn't a Leica brand but was design for Leica R camera by Angenieux.
Angenieux actually design two zoom lenses for Leica the 45/90 and 70/210

Angenieux 70/210 R mount (I did push the grade a bit on this one)

Edit here is the zoom.
