  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Awesome! I'll keep my eye out for those. The 70-180mm 2.8 would be the dream lens, unfortunately it's way out of my price range! The Angeniuex 45-90mm looks really cool as well.

Hey guys!

I'm selling my Leica Super Angulon 21mm f4 with a 300$ Cinevised modification from TLS in the UK (like Duclos in LA)

I'm asking 700€ for it (Reduser price)

You won't find a better wide angle lens on the market!

-Canon EF hard mount
-Pitch .32 focus gear
-Arri standard 80mm front ring with cap
-Aperture ring declicked

It's a gorgeous 1969 lens (serial N° 2318464) that covers 6K of course. I've shot numerous features, commercials and music videos with this lens but I just got a 19mm and don't need both.

Here's the eBay listing: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Leica-R-Super-Angulon-21mm-f-4-Cinemod-EF-Canon-Mount-/301849545796?

I have this lens (R 21mm) and I Love it. It's a really Fantastic lens. It can focus sooo close the objects can almost touch the lens. And the focus is endless, really good idea to have it cinevised.

Finally had a chance to use my set on a production!

I'm curious what mattebox/follow focus combo you guys are using with your Reds? I couldn't quite get a compatible setup, there was either a small gap between the follow focus and the matte box, or I couldn't get a low enough profile of follow focus to fit.

Mainly had issues with the 28mm Elmarit F/2.8 because it's the shortest lens of the bunch. There was always just a tiny gap between the bellows and the 80mm front which caused a lot of reflection issues.

I tried using a few different combos: O'connor CFF-1/Bright Tangerine Misfit, Arri FF-4/BT Misfit, CFF-1/Arri MMB-2, all with a studio spaced, 15mm rod bridgeplate adapter.

I ultimately had to settle with the CFF-1-/BT Misfit in Clip-on mode but there were still constant annoyances. These lenses are just so tiny and there's not enough spacing between the focus gear and the front ring!

A quick and rough grade from the dailies:

The image looks great! On my 50mm Cron, which is my shortest lens physically, I use several step up and step down rings to make it the same size as my 35mm. That helps with matte box spacing. I use the OConnor CFF1 with the Leicas and it works great.

Yes, great capture Brian!

Very nice classic, yet modern look Christian.

Yeah, step ups are a way but also stacking old filters with the glass removed is a way to solve this...

Nice shot Brian, which lens was this and at which aperture?

I believe this particular shot was with the 50mm Summicron F/2.0 and I was at a F/4. Either a F/4 or a F/2.8-4 split, I forget.

Yes, its an amazing piece of glass.

was there a Leica R survivor guide up here on reduser or just carl zeiss one? cant find the Leica one but have a weird feeling i saw it :D
