I won't post the footage in the clips, it's just not truly a sign of the lenses potential, but:

That's the 35mm and the 50mm. In practice the 35mm and wider produces the purple vignette and pixel smearing near the corners, even stopped down.

However, the 50mm is entirely usable and literally the lens RED made the Leica-M Mount for. So that's good news.

Hey Phi, just curious.. have you tried the wider M lenses on monochrome? since it doesn't have color filters on the sensor, does it still have a vignette because of the ray angles?

In my best Jar Jar Binks voice, "Meesa no have Monochrome". I've only worked with one once.

I would suspect the micro lens design on the filter would be the same however, so I think the vignette on Dragon as well as the pixel smearing would be there. That's on the sensor, has nothing to do with the CFA in practice.

cool, ya I'll have to try it out sometime. Seems like in monochrome it could actually work towards an interesting effect.

Chad -- (and this is a request for All Hands to respond, not just Chad) --

I have an s35 Helium Weapon with the Leica $1300 OLPF. As far as I can tell, up to & including the Voightlander 21mm f/1.8, there are no the lens "butt" doesn't clear the OLPF problems, no CA issues,
no smearing. I have yet to try a Summilux 21mm or 24mm [they ARE a bit pricey, even to rent !], but since the OLPF is from Leica & is meant for the .8 series of lenses (cinevized Leica-M lenses), I'll
assume that there won't be a problem.

I've even tried he Voightlander 10mm f/5.6. -- it fits & while I haven't really tested it for CA & smearing, the 10mm seems to produce Avery usable image (some fall-off, but that's what post is for ...)

Questions of the day: [1] anyone else have the $1300 Leica OLPF & what has your experience been with which lenses, etc. ?

[2] How would the Leica OLPF perform with Monstro [now the incidence angle will really be testing the Leica OLPF !]

Scott -- Good question. I have e-mail(s) in to Sonderoptic asking if there is clipping with their current ($1300) OLPF on Monstro. If clipping, how much ? Also is there CA, smearing, voter fraud, etc. on Monsto.

So far on an 8K s35 Helium Weapon, I'm not seeing any problems with a 21mm Voightlander f/1.8 with the Sonderoptic OLPF -- I may rent a wider -M lens to see what happens.

Anyone else have experience with the Sonderoptic OLPF that they'd like to share ???

I know I am super late to the party on this! I have some Leica M lenses which I would like to be able to use on my other cameras.


Primarily, my Leica M 50mm f0.95 Noctilux.

I have the RED Leica M Mount now.

I've removed the bushing from the DSMC2 Standard OLPF on my EPIC-W.

I'm having a Leica M Mount made for my Phantom VEO 4K camera (I haven't received it yet).

I'm interested in getting my Noctilux de-clicked and follow focus gears for it.

Any suggestions and updates on this? Has anyone successfully declicked any Leica M lenses?

Duclos offer their Cine mod for voigtlander m mounts. Includes gears, declicking and an 80mm front.

Unfortunately the 21mm Voigtländer 1.8 doesn't fit my scarlet-w. The rear element of the lens gets blocked by the OLPF glass when focusing beyond 1.5 meters.
Did someone test it with the CW olpf? And does anyone know if the Leica Elmarit 21mm 2.8 fits? Going to test that next.

I tested the 21mm 2.8 Leica-M today on my scarlet-w. Doesn't fit either sadly enough, rear element hits the olpf. I'd really like to have a 21mm for my camera. I am considering grinding a bit off the 21mm's rear element, probably won't be more that 1mm. Does someone have a better idea?

21mm LUX is "no bueno" on Komodo also for same reason. It seems that Red forgot about the 21mm Lux when they designed the Komodo. Too bad.
