My Scarlet got force-shut-down during a firmware upgrade, and somehow the latest beta firmware enabled me to shoot 5K FF 24fps at 9:1 compression and 5K FF 40fps at 15:1 compression. For now, the cam starts up intermittently and does this. I'll probably upgrade the firmware eventually and will obviously lose this ability, but this thread will serve as documentation that it did happen.
It's DEFINITELY a bug. 2 out of the 3 R3Ds that I shot will not play back on the camera. Only the 5K 40fps one plays back in-camera, as far as I can tell. Lots of other risky instabilities throughout the system.
Lame R3Ds: [link removed to save space on my MediaFire account + 2nd set of R3Ds is better] Once again, sorry for grossly underexposed, non-black-shaded whip pan footage + and excited Scarlet owner shaking his hand at the lens like a hype man on stage, haha. Needed something to do for 39fps shot. These are the clips I shot the first night when it was doing its thing.

VERY FINAL DISCLAIMER: Jarred has emphasized to me that these framerate/resolution combos are potentially dangerous territory for Scarlet hardware. Just because I have shot R3Ds with this camera, does not mean it was designed to do so or could have done so safely for extended periods of time. For those of you who may come across this thread and not have the patience to read everything in it including RED Team posts -- You should not consider my incident irrefutable "proof" that Scarlet is capable of reliably recording 5K at higher framreates. There's a lot of stuff happening under the hood in these cameras, and they do have a measurable limit as to what they can endure. This thread is primarily here for your amusement. While it has been lots of fun, I have now upgraded my camera to the latest beta build, which is supposed to prevent this bug from reoccurring.
