  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Heh heh I wonder what is going on? I have a ton of messages and emails in the last 24 hours saying "they have heard" things.

Unless you hear it from me... every date you hear is just people making shit up.

Because nobody knows. I've been very transparent with you guys. From all the testing going on that is torturing you all to watch, like I said we have made a few changes. and some of that has already come ( successfully ) and there are 2 more big ones coming out of the oven in the next few weeks. Not sensor or processing related, but big enough that we can't do anything until they are locked in.

And don't worry.. you will be the first to know.
 
Man, what is going on with this thread? Be grateful for the information that Jarred gives us - it's a luxury that few other companies offer.

Ha ha it's cool... I know people are just excited. I just want to curb the misinformation, because that only leads to disappointment.

And just to be clear as I just saw someone say it elsewhere..... This isn't me preparing you all for a delay. Komodo ( as you all can see ) is cruising along very well.

Congratulations on staying so calm and collected and keeping us informed on the development when it must be so much easier to do development behind closed doors!

Know that there are a bunch of us that quietly sit and wait for the next tidbit of info, we love it and massively appreciate what you're doing!

Any word on improved weather sealing/abilities over past Red cameras?

Well, i’m not sure where you’re getting your information from, but i’ve heard definitely NAB 2020.

It would be great if Komodo had a really good quality set of accelerometers built in and their data were stored in meta data in a way it could be used for post stabilization. I know there is an accelerometer in DSMC1 but I've not heard that there is much you can do with it. I think that data would get a lot of use.

I am relatively new to this forum. I'm a photographer who is transitioning into filmmaking. I have to tell you that I am beyond excited at the thought of possibly owning my first RED Cinema Camera - Komodo obviously - and this thread has been incredibly helpful and torturous... Also, I am amazed at how much you are on here, how thoughtful and informative your posts are, and just the general good nature of this forum. I am really impressed. So thanks a lot to you and every body else for all the posts thus far.

Oh I'm personally not worried at all. I'm just excited to see what's going on behind the scenes. This stuff is some of my favorite. Seeing changes being implemented, modification to design or function. I love this kinda stuff. This thread is also a part of my morning routine now ha so I'll be a little sad when it goes. At the same time I'm looking forward to using the camera!

Usually its not so goid to be on the rim with such things. Gimbals and drones preform better when they are not on the edge for thier capacity.

I dont know, but to me what ever package you would get together I would say a dji inspire 2 6k would be a better option du to weight, built in gimbal etc. Dont really see the benefit of getting a komodo or red camera in air instead of the dji stuff..
