KOMODO....

I use Google almost exclusively on my Iphone. No idea which is less secure but I just like iphone better than android for many reasons... have been an iphone user since the first one. As per hydrogen security and updates, I really couldn't tell you, different company different team remember. I do use a Hydrogen though to control my Komodo.. the battery lasts forever.
Yes it does! That was one of the great things about using H1, that and dual simage, the one phone ruled for a time!

Why would you not use hydrogen. Is it because android and google are less secure than Apple? Wondering if I should stop using my Hydrogen also.

If it makes you feel any better, Apple has been trailing the security world for years, ignoring security issues repeatedly...

... which means that the Hydrogen being way behind on security updates probably still puts it well ahead of Apple. ;)

Do you own one? Great phone design bet android is tricky compared to OS. Physically it blows away ipone and everything. Bet titanium one is even better!!! The phone is a big f-u to the industry and screams originally thinking. Rare and nothing like it. Like Red.

Everyone that I know that saw the phone and the holograms in person really liked it... but there are probably a lot more people who read the dumbass Verge review by the clueless bonehead who didn't know what it was or what "alpha" means and just formed their opinion based on that.

Not that it would probably have made that much of a difference in the long run most likely, since there really wasn't anyone in a position to succeed Jim Jannard when he decided to retire, unfortunately.

And frankly I think for the Hydrogen to have been truly successful, it would have required Jim and his crew to keep at it for at least one more generation, possibly two, along with Leia getting its screens into more devices. That was IMO the real killer; with the Hydrogen being the only device that could show the no-glasses 3D, the people seeing it in person is a small blip in the world of cell phones due to volumes.

Launching a new phone brand is tough. I do think that Jim and company could have pulled it off had he decided to keep going and while I do wish that he HAD chosen to keep going, he's spearheaded lots of great stuff at Red, so he's certainly earned it.

You can't be serious lol.

You can't be serious lol.

Of course I am. Apple's notorious for ignoring security holes in its software. It's about time it got serious about patching them...

The fans are, of course, in denial... but reality doesn't change to support the RDF...

It's not a claim, it's reality.

Of course neither iOS or Android are completely immune to security issues and it’s easy to cite anecdotal evidence. Here’s a similar issue with Android also reported on Ars Technica: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2019/10/attackers-exploit-0day-vulnerability-that-gives-full-control-of-android-phones/?amp=1

It seems that the general consensus though (based on the half dozen or so comparisons that I’ve perused) is that iOS is currently more secure with Android making strides to narrow the gap.

Merry Xmas to all the RED Family & Team....

Keep rocking!!!

Cheers...

Do you know what anectodal means?

Given Apple's long history of ignoring OSX security issues, my confidence in its security is not great. Maybe its slacking on OSX because it's been paying more attention to iOS?

Do you know what anectodal means?

Yes, I do.

From Wikipedia: "Anecdotal evidence is evidence from anecdotes: evidence collected in a casual or informal manner and relying heavily or entirely on personal testimony."

Something like:

Given Apple's long history of ignoring OSX security issues, my confidence in its security is not great. Maybe its slacking on OSX because it's been paying more attention to iOS?
(I'm not sure why we are talking about OS X now and not iOS).

Apple's notorious for ignoring security holes in its software.

It's not a claim, it's reality.

I'm not trying to start a heated debate over this or make it personal and it's definitely starting to get way off topic from Komodo. I was just asking for some evidence of this notorious disregard for security because I was genuinely curious as to whether there really is some merit to the claim. Google "iOS vs. Android security 2019" and every article either gives iOS the victory or at the very least has it too close to call. I can't find a single article claiming that Android is by leaps and bounds more secure than iOS.

Apple has had its share of security issues, malware, etc., but so has every other major software vendor, so it seems like a stretch to say that Apple is notorious for security holes in its software with the implication that this isn't the case for Microsoft, Google, etc.

Maybe you are lacking in any knowledge on the topic? You are so full of nonsense and believe so deeply in random headlines and anecdotal evidence it isn't even worth addressing. But, every current apple computer has a dedicated chip for hardware encryption amongst many other security focused things. Machine learning processing is done on device (while millions of android devices are sending this data to servers). macOS has a brand new file system that is dramatically more secure than others, and is very clear about position on privacy, discloses methodologies of security, and the list goes on until the end of time.

Take this discussion somewhere else. ffs.

Check out Instagram, Komodo had a snow ball fight and won. Getting tested pretty rigorously.

Seems to be a little beast !

That GDU back battery plate is a work of art!!

That side handle looks slick. I wonder if it has any controls on it - cant be easy to press the camera buttons with those gloves. Don't recall seeing any connectors on the right side though.

Can't figure out what's going on in the second image. Looks like the camera is on but the monitor is off. Also an interesting looking rear cover to protect rear battery connectors while powering from an external battery.
