  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KOMODO....

Are you guys sure there still is a "cradle"? I have a feeling it got Hydroginized along with the rest of that program. Also, cradle kind of screams Palm Pilot to me. It's going to be hard to make such a device look like it's part of a next-generation, minimalist system IMO.

There won't be a Hydrogen specific cradle, but the smart phone interface and apps are still a major feature of KOMODO. There will be at least a POGO to USB-C cradle that mounts on top of the camera to support this plus initially an Android app for control and monitoring functions, possibly live streaming functions too.

Already said this earlier but nobody seems to notice.

This camera should be powered by one inspire 2 battery. This would make so much sense for many reasons, 8 bay rapid charger, built in dis charge battery preservation, built in heater, tons of people already power their MōVi, better price capacity then the canon batts.

If I am wrong please explain why? Perhaps voltage? Can’t you just put a regulator in there?

Only draw back in can see is perhaps slightly heavier, but seems negligent.

Well for one, the DJI TB50 is larger than the camera in two different directions, width and height.

Also, BP series are globally readily available. Like Best Buy, Radioshack, Frys available.

Also, also, BP series are expandable in power capacity via a longer battery for those who want to add more power booty to the Komodo.

If anything I'd like to see a baby v-mount thingy, perhaps an adapter. That seems to be an expanding form factor.

Yes, me too !
Something designed for batteries like the Nano series from FXLION would be awesome IMO.
(the brand also makes a BP battery as well which seems affordable enough)

I like the dual battery hot swap setup. I normally leave my camera on for the full duration of a shooting period between major breaks, sometimes for the entire day. Two BP’s fit within the width of the camera, so form factor may have been an important consideration in battery choice.

New pictures. Now we can see the left side of The beast.
What's on top of the grid?

Some kind of 'warning exhaust" label ? Like on this picture :

EDIT : could be pins ?

Also : is there a door for the CFAST ?

Looks like there is a GDU side handle of some sort attached. Very nice.

First I have heard of such a thing.. but that sure would be cool.

Yep, I let that slip on FB a bit ago, just an under the radar project for the moment, but I have a real one in the flesh already.
PL to RF mount with a slot for the same existing revolva cartridges.

Not sure we'll do EF to RF the same as that job is covered reasonably by the very cheap and handy Canon EF-RF with vari ND. Its chintzy as hell, but cheap and works.

Might want to reconsider the EF version. A robust adapter with locking EF mount would make a nice complement to CN-E series lenses that support Canon stabilization, auto-iris and auto-focus functions. The combination could make an interesting run and gun doc camera.

I don't have personal experience with the Canon, but it seems to me a simple variable ND without hard stops and with a miniaturized control wheel.
I'd pay the premium for a proper ND wheel on EF to RF, locking mount

I don’t like variable ND filters and the Canon adapter version is apparently not the best quality.

+1 for a EF to RF Revolva.
I have set up a couple of my Salty DSMC2 surf housings with Revolva control, and it would be amazing to have one on the Komodo housing.
The control on the Canon ND is tiny, so would be tricky to make work in a housing.
