If it’s genlockable and preferably tetherable I’ll buy a pallet of them for nutty multicam and photogrammetry rigs.

No lens support...built like a tank...

Very curious how loud it runs
I think Matthew is a great designer, but if I have one wiggle, the arrows on the plastic eject buttons should be pointing upwardsBut I think we can figure that out.
If this has an s35 sensor with usable ISO 3200 (or 6400) and delivers in terms of image quality, which I can't imagine RED screwing up, this will likely be my next camera. Price is hinting at being about right too. Wasn't it said it would be under $6k if you don't own a Hydrogen, which you clearly don't need to run this thing?
This might be the first RED I put a deposit down on and buy brand new...
Likewise. Honestly, my most significant beef with DSMC 1&2.
Looks great in terms of form and having A) a mount that allows for internal ND, B) a battery and media system that is reasonably priced/convenient, means that most of the things that were downsides to getting a RED if you work mostly alone are already not issues on Komodo. Think REDCODE RAW :wink:RED needs to do better in this arena.
6k cut of the Monstro 8k VV makes perfect sense on so many levels if you want to keep the cost of Komodo reasonable for a high performance prosumer class camera.
A: They can use 8k Monstro wafers that are rejected because of edge defects and recut them.
B. They already have a mechanical platform to support it in production for Gemini, minimal development needed to fit the smaller housing.
That's also a massive oversimplification, since Gemini uses the far more power hungry DSMC2 electronics... the "minimal" part is rather unikely.
C. They already have the processing and color science developed for it. No development costs to dial in a totally new sensor.
Not none, but certainly less -- another reason that I'd expect Red to re-use the pixel design that it developed as much as possible.
D. They can produce it pretty quickly with a short development cycle for the platform and hopefully very few bugs to deal with compared to starting from scratch
E. 17+ stops of DR! More than enough resolution for 4K video and adequate resolution at full frame for most stills requirements.
F. 6K for $6k (including an H2 phone) has a nice ring to it.![]()
Realistically, anything over 12 stops is is plenty of dynamic range for anyone competent, but I'd be surprised if Red were satisfied with a sensor that had less than 16.![]()

While they look a lot like LEMOs, AFAIK, ODU is a competitive product - not a LEMO variant.
