KOMODO....

Jarred, I've been wondering one thing for the past few weeks, is this:

- Does the camera have a 4G / 5G antenna and an e-sim or sim slot for instant nomad broadcast?

hehehe :skep:

Jarred has confirmed that WiFi is for control only, no video output over Wifi. We don't know the full feature set yet for the USB-C phone interface and apps, but live streaming from an attached smartphone may be possible.

Use a phone for this? As I see it, the Komodo can act as its camera and you broadcast through that while using the phone as a monitor.

It's so funny because when I'm watching that, my hand hurts just watching how he's holding the camera. I'm just so used to my camera being so heavy that I forgot it's super light. So awesome.

But still, it would be nice to be able to adjust for the centre of gravity.

Hopefully Komodo does 120fps 4K as well or I will probably end up moving back to canon if this rumor is true.

Things just got very interesting... Canon seems to be trying to make up ground in the mirrorless world. I
realize Komodo and the new R are still fairly different tools, but we can't deny the disruption the 5D mark ii had on the industry for a few years. 8K mirrorless seemed crazy before but could pave new trails.

Yeah for sure! How were you thinking? By extending the handles or something?

I've always preferred the dual Outrigger Handles because I can adjust quickly to the length and weight of the camera. The GDU handles may work for me if there was a nato rail across the top sides of the camera to be able to slide the forward or back.

+1 for the outrigger handle, really great to have the ability to fold handles in to fit it into backpack more easily.

Strangely I haven't asked Jarred, but I have a few things on my mind about Komodo recently considering it's size and power requirements.

- Does it come with an AC Adapter?
- I've thought about it, and I could be crazy, but Komodo could likely use a smaller AC Adapter than DSMC2?
- If so, lets see it!

.

Anything for you Phil :)

And yes it is considerably smaller. Here it is next to the 33mm RED COIN for size reference. 15v @ 3 amps

o yeah.. and we are making our own connectors with ODU now.. so you all can buy those ( and almost all other DSMC2 connectors ) directly from us now .

That's exactly what I was hoping for size-wise.

Similarly I saw a significantly smaller 330w laptop AC Adapter at CES that inspired the question.

Oh yep. I totally agree.

I cannot say if that camera is real or not. I have to be open minded - after all, remember the rumours about how the A7S would have a max ISO of 400,000? Okay, so maybe the highest usable ISO on that camera was really only 10K or so, but you get where I'm coming from. For a company like Canon to overtake Sony just like that... I have a hard time believing it at this point.

And RED has way out-paced pretty much every sensor manufacturer when it comes to cinema. You want to tell me that Canon just came up with this magical sensor tech that has not found its way into their cinema line? Or the 1DX? Or maybe that's the point: it is cinema camera with an RF mount that's going to cost $20K. Who the hell knows.
