  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

That range sounds ideal in that you won't have to land your drone, bother your gimbal operator or get out of your chair to change settings. I think a stable connection will be more important than range in real world usage, there's nothing worse than having to wait for a connection.

Just clip it to the tripod and I don't have to worry about the cable length as I need to extend my legs.

This morning I just approved the last mechanical update to Komodo and it was an important one.

Time to start up the machines, kick-off tooling and start narrowing in on a date. Lots to still do.. but this was an important week for Komodo.

Early next week we will be releasing mechanical drawings and 3D models to our approved 3rd party partners so everyone can start making their own bits and pieces and be ready when we are.

I really hope there's a way for the camera to work with Cooke i/technology (via an adapter) or SIMILAR technology. (I already have a shot in mind for a project that will require adding CGI and I know the 3D vendor would thank me if I can give him that kind of lense data)

Anyway, can't wait to get my hands on this little beast.

Curious about where we are in the development timeline for the EXT port and whatever it enables. I realize that getting the hardware locked down (kind of like locking picture) is essential to getting the product finished - congrats. Graeme's work is ongoing, we all want him to have the time he needs. The engineers will keep optimizing in the meantime, so win-win.

What would be helpful to me, and perhaps a few other RedUsers, is more info on the EXT port. There are a myriad of interesting potential applications for the Komodo that become real if the EXT port can handle the tasks involved...

Agreed, although I have a feeling that it will just be a combo SYNC/CTRL port.

Looks like it is about the size of a MBP adapter? If yes that will spark joy indeed.

Excellent... definitely looking forward to that! Even more to generating my own of course.

Graame did a wonderful job with the IPP2 color science... you guys are going to have a winner here.

I can't wait to review it ;)

Incredible hardware updates! That antenna is exactly what I wanted to see. Really puts Komodo in the pro calibur. Cannot wait to unlock all of the secrets in these coming weeks.

About that EXT port... cntrl/sync? Connection for multi cam panel control? Additional audio options?

Other question... will Hydrogen work in a greater capacity than a WiFi device to control Komodo through Fool Control? With the SmallHD focus monitor pics I am loosing faith in the dream that my hydrogen will double as a monitor. With no real complaints, one of the reasons I bought the phone. Either way I hope you guys at RED find some use with what you have developed in the hydrogen.

There is no advantage of using the hydrogen over any other mobile device other than a better place in line and a discount.

or a smaller Alta...

I'm sure with the size and weight of the komodo they could design someone newer and better... now it's all about internal motors/autofocus

if they added a way to pump up the wifi signal with gimbal/alta and wireless video built in... in 5-axis carbon body?
