Excellent work Ketch, and to all involved. Spellbinding. Makes me want to move to Dubai and take up skydiving!

Thanks Will,

a series of lenses were used, so I'll need to know exactly which shot you are interested in.

On the horse shots I used the RPP 300mm, in several positions and distance from the horses, as well as the RPZ 17-50 which I also used on the Camels shot against the sunset, while Joseph used a RP 50-150mm, and the RPZ 17-50 was used also by Jon Nash in the dolly type shots which was taken from a moving buggy with the camera mounted on a MiniGyro .

Yea this was my only complain to the fact of not having been done and graded accordingly to my specifications, but it tucked so long to get finally released that unfortunately this happens, especially because I started with Tony, and then Joseph or some one else retouched the edit but did not properly graded.

Also the fill is very different because the way I intended was to tell a story from the Desert to the City with a transition shots that never tucked place and the final edit does not reflect this, and because you have a very good eye and paid attention to it, you felt this difference which is pretty obvious actually but not every one notices it as the entire work is still a great work.

Ketch, have you protected in some way camera body or fan from sand?

Not in this shoots as there was no strong winds, but I do take a part the entire camera for a very good clean up job, of course only permitted body parts that don't void your warranty upon their removal... ;)

Ketch, can you please advice about buying 5600 lighting kit. I know Kinoflo is the best way and if there is no alternatives I will buy 2 Diva lite 400 or 4Bank or Barfly400 but there are flolight and konova and I am thinking what is the difference between Kinoflo 5600K and flolight 5600k or even simple device with fluorescent bulbs with softbox is it a big difference between very similar fluorescent devices? And I see LED becomes very popular even Kinoflo make it. It is dimmable, changing color from 3200 to 5600, so maybe LED is better idea then Kinoflo?

This is not an easy answer to give Alexey,

I have but almost entirely moved to LED lights, which at times can be as expensive as any other solution, the light output can be as strong or stronger then Kino's however you always need to filter this light output when wish to avoid extreme burns in Skin, which is no wonder the Kino's had such a great success, but with some LED fixtures you can easily outperform a Kino.

I'll be running some tests of some LED panels, and will post a review about it, and which one I chose to use.

But it is important to make understanding of the difference from a Kino and LED fixture, but I do much prefer the LED, not only for Ecological and Energy saving reasons but because of the possibility to always Battery Power this units, making them super portable, and this I like a LOT.

What you really need to do is find the opportunity to test the lights against each other, value the light output and your needs and also your budget and then make your decision.

Or wait till I do this tests for you and then make your decision, but right now I have several Shorts to produce so not sure when I will be able to do this tests, but since I need them for my self it could not be that long at all... ;)

Very cool.... the shot of the guys parachuting through the skyscrapers was fantastic

Yea those shots were not easy to pull off, but at the end we convinced every one that was safe, and the Pro shooters did an insane stunt on that, very happy we pulled off.

This is were my camera was set up to get them coming thru, while other cameras were set up near the Runway a bit further away.

Thanks Ketch! I am very interesting in LED and i will see your results with interesting, my opinion that LED now have only one disadvantage is a power, intensity of light but i see the LED becomes more and more powerful and there are a big models which very powerful, for example i see KInoflo LED 200 is very cool but 2,6K it is too expensive yet, but i see led becomes more and more popular and more powerful.

Thanks

Most welcome.

Yes the only disadvantage it is indeed Power, but as power we intend TROW as only the big HMI BOYS can do I would never use Tungstens, but this will come to change, as there are ever more powerful LED's coming to market, and it is only a matter to cook up the proper composition and control the proper and correct light Kelvin to measure exactly 5600, just a matter of time, for now for those specific shots we still need BIG HMI's, there is no escape.

I assume the shot of the Falcon in slow motion was yours too? 300mm I am thinking? There is a lot that can be said about this shot, for many reasons. Well done.

Ketch, it's so nice to see someone so generous with details of their shooting methods. Can I ask you if you used faster than a traditional 180 degree shutter for moving shots such as from aircraft or of fast moving objects on the ground, or did you always rely on following the filmed person/object to avoid motion blur? Also, is the "original" resolution on YouTube H264? It looks amazing.

Ketch. Brilliant shots. Some shots were truly spectacular. I really was impressed that the fireworked looks so good.
I notice that some of the guys had canon lenses. I'm debating if I should get a canon mount. Do you think it's worth it if I have Red Primes. My good canon lenses are 35 f/1.4, 100 f/2.8, 70-200 f/4 so I don't have so many yet. It would be especially nice with the 100 2.8 to get macro and to get a stabilizer.

Cheers!
/Andreas
