Hi guys...
I was trying to get a new kid set up with the tools to see and QC Red footage. She could not find the Red Quicktime plugin on red.com. Sure enough, when I looked, there were only plugins for Final Cut.
Is there no longer a standalone Quicktime plugin if you simply want to view proxies or use Clipfinder?
Cheers,
Harry

It's bundled with the Final Cut Installer on RED.COM/support

Thanks Jeff...
I kind of thought that might be the case.
She doesn't have Final Cut, but I assume when the installer runs, the computer will ignore the Final Cut components and install the Quicktime ones.
Anyway, I'll steer her back over to the support page.
Cheers,
Harry

I wish they kept the lonely one, many clients out there don´t have FCP installed and would like the benefits of running the proxies. Having the essential quicktime plugin hidden away in a bundle makes them confused.

Agreed. Seems weird. Maybe from their perspective "everyone has Final Cut Pro now"... ;)
Cheers,
Harry

When you run the installer package, right after you accept the license agreement, you can click on the customize button. There you can choose which components to install.

I kinda agree that the QT component should be available separately, but at the same time it's probably best to keep it in a single location to minimize potential confusion and version mis-matching. I definitely agree that it's not very obvious where to obtain the plug-in or how to go about installing it.
