  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nothing stopping you from sticking CF electronics in an MG body. The big price difference is the electronics, not the material housing it. Obviously Forged CF being more expensive and an exception to the rule. I recall Ketch wanting a MG body w/ CF electronics so it would all match vs. CF with the MG media module.

A 6.7 k sensor is only a little bigger than a 6k one, so it's possible the Mg Weapon has the horsepower to power such a sensor. If it comes up a little short, they could just lower the fps limit and perhaps even the compression ratio allowed.
 
I'd wager that even with 6.7K width you would still need the higher spec boards. I say this because the number of lines that need to read/reset is still 4,320. Based on the way frame rates increase for 'scope rasters vs full height, leads me to believe that more vertical pixels demands more processing. This is only a guess. I can understand why Mg Weapon peeps are hoping they might be able to manage VVA without expensive board upgrades, and perhaps it is possible (likely with lower frame rate caps).

Based on some of Jarred's posts, I get the impression that the 8K sensor program took on a life of it's own. What might be possible now that they are deeper into it, remains to be seen...

Huge shoutout to RED...While I was stuck without a camera (sold my Epic MX a little while back, and have big projects coming up) they have spotted me a Scarlet Dragon kit while I await my Scarlet-W brain. There is no way any other company would do this...lend a DP a 20k package on good faith, while they wait for a camera to be delivered.

RED truly delivers on all levels...literally. Thanks Jarred and everyone at RED who puts in the countless/endless hours to support this amazing community.

Same for me man. i got an Epic Dragon for my wait. Holy Crap what a camera! I will be testing a Weapon on Thursday (unless my wife has a baby that day) and i am predisposed to fall in love. Thanks Jarred, Brent, Kevin Solomon and of course Matt Tremblay. We live in fantastic times....

I am replying with your own comment, because you are so annoying: "Everyone should stop getting hot headed about the situation. Everyone here has been waiting no matter when a deposit was put down. Honestly just get on with making films and enjoying life and your creations. Your allocation email will turn up when it turns up! No matter how much you moan they won't put you to the front of the queue! I'm sure not long ago in this thread red was going to start putting people to the back of the queue haha..don't be one of those people. I am sure that everyone at red hasn't even slept for the past 4 months.."

What are you talking about? I asked a question I wasn't moaning about anything. I was asking to see if anyone had been allocated so I can see where we are upto. I am sorry I annoy you David asking where we are upto haha
