Even if someone stole Jim's IP, they would need you, Graeme, Deanan, Brent and everyone else at RED to try and knock you guys off!

Karma is a bitch.. And I am sure the people involved in stealing Jim's IP will get what they deserve.
Stealing Jim´s privacy, ideas and treating his great respect for his competitors like shit is enough Karma for many lives. I´m not shocked to hear about this violation, I´m hurt.
All my respect to Jim and the Red team!
Marc

Such a tragedy that one person can do so much damage to his friends, co-workers and competitors. A sorry state all around that one rotten apple can tarnish the image of so many. A good reminder that our actions for good or ill often reflect upon those closest to us and the responsibility we have to those who trust us.

true dat, although I wouldn't say his co workers had been totally "victims" of this little man's schemes. It's not as if he were this lone rogue nutter that watched preggo porn on company time. The bastard was fishing for secrets knowing perfectly well secrets have a price as well as a market. Pretty sad state of affairs but I'm damn curious to learn of the details as they'll be revealed. Lifting a rock seldom reveals only one bug.

Jim has over 600 patents with his name on them... He didn't get to where he is today by stealing, lying, or cheating.

Thankfully, because of where he is today, he has the resources and the capability of erasing those that do.

Exactly....

One rotten apple? Really? Just one solitary, lonesome, bottom-of-the-totem-pole rotten apple? Maybe I'm just a cynical guy, but... News of the World comes to mind.

Jim has had to be involved in hundreds of lawsuits. He has never lost. Not one. With companies 100x larger than Arri. This is not one he is looking forward to.

This situation has really taken a toll on him because of the great respect he has always had for Arri. The 2nd time I met him he showed me his collection of ARRI cameras, which he was very proud of. He used to wear an ARRI hat to the office... seriously.

That said.., Jim is a fighter. He will fist fight in a second if someone is taking advantage of what he has created or if his team has been wronged. I have seen it in the past. Trust me... it never has ends well for the other side. If there is one thing I have learned hanging out with him for the past 6 years, don't ever piss him off.

as Jim always says... Put your helmets on.

Some fights need to be fought...

A big part of the RED SPIRIT is fighting for what we believe in.. We have shown that strength already breaking the mold of what the camera industry was comfortable with giving the customer. But that strength pales in comparison to the strength we, and specifically Jim, unleashes in fighting against right and wrong.

Im glad the United States Government feels the same way.. and am glad they took the first step with the successful conviction.

Now it is Jim's turn.

Sorry. You can thank Arri that my full time job is now dealing with Michael Bravin and Arri. Nothing else.

Jim

Truly sorry, does not begin to give a sense of how I really fill for Jim, I LOVE RED, not because they are my favorite camera company, but because they have become FAMILY...

I know there is nothing that we, I can do to assist make this a less painful Battle, and I also know that Jim has the strength, Both financially and Legally to put up this HELL of a FIGHT...

However this does not worry me as much as ones health which can be greatly effected by this kinda of things, and in this I offer what ever Moral support I can...

Oh...

And my MASTER PRIMES set, MB28 Kit, and ANYTHING else from ARRI THAT I OWN WILL NOW GO ON SALE!!

This is how I show my LOYALTY to RED...!!

Yeah, The Bravin guy might just be the scapegoat. This issue must be more complex than it seems and i wouldn't be surprised if it involved alot more of the senior guys. I pray Justice will be served. All the best Jim and RED team, we're behind you all the way!

Wow. Don't you want to hold on that? Maybe until you know more?

I'm so sorry this happened, Mr. Jannard. I know you and the whole RED team were spoiling for a fight with ARRI. But the one you wanted was in the marketplace where the winner would be the one who could make the best cameras and equipment. It was clear you were looking forward to that with relish.

Now it sounds like you will have to endure an unpleasant legal fight with a competitor you once admired. I used to work in a rental house in the late '90s and I always thought the ARRI gear was very cool. I even thought about seeking a job with them once, but my career went in another direction. If they used what MB learned by reading your emails, whether or not they asked him to do it in the first place, then I am very disappointed in them. I can't imagine how it feels for you.

In any case I'm pulling for you in both the business and legal struggles. Taking some time off to think, prepare your next move, and rest is a good thing. I hope some time soon you can go on an actual vacation.

I've been a fan of RED since Mr. Jannard answered my first post here. And aside from my words, I'll be showing my support by competing with about 10,000 other customers to buy the first Scarlet on November 3rd.

I know in off... RED is suing ARRI... I want nothing in my possession of the ENEMY!!

Same here. I was looking at a nice bit of kit from them. No more. I cannot support people who play that way.

That's the real tragedy here. Arri is a great company with great products. Why they would stoop to such lows seems so desperate. I hope it's just a couple of rougues acting without company authority.
Easy money attracts this stuff like flies to . . . .

What the hell is going on!? I have respect for Red and Arri, I used Alexa a lot and it is "THE other cam" of choice on many productions. Now I will feel a bit dirty knowing that some tech ideas might be "stolen" from Red and put into their cameras. I can't believe my eyes of what I'm reading.

I'm totally supporting Red in this lawsuit, it might be dirty but if this is the level of professionalism that a company like Arri is having then they need to be shown a freakin statement and a big boot reality check.
Disgusting.

I'm stunned that Arri, a company whose products I've used for years would stoop to something like this.

Why not just make a great product and let people decide who did it better to serve their needs. Industrial espionage is stealing pure and simple. This is not an area that Arri should develop in their business.

Very sad.

You have my full support. (All the little I am able to give you)
