And IMHO Jarred (and his dvxuser :-)

...was (has been ;) one of main keys.

Words of wisdom from a portuguese pal I can also be proud to have met in real life too. Well said, Sérgio!

Um abraço de Nápoles para Macau,

E :-))

Thanks for the kind words Emanuel :)
I hope to be joining you soon as a Red owner (I'm planning on going Epic). I think Jim and the Red Team should look into this thread and see the overwhelming support its getting from its user base and followers in the forum. THis truly reflects the positive energy that's behind all the Red journey so far. This is a small bump on the road.

Go Red team!

Emanuel, abraço de Macau!

Sorry

Sorry

I didn't think anything could temper my excitement for Scarlet, but this did the trick. The real crime here is that RED's energy must be diverted from revolutionizing our industry. What innovations will not now be realized? How do you put a pricetag on that?

I'm really sorry about this news. It's a travesty that any of RED's efforts must be necessarily devoted to this bullshit.

Suffice to say I'm no longer an Arri customer. My one question is this: what do I do with my Arri coffee mug? I wonder what Jim did with his hat...

Some fights need to be fought...

Well said. Must do. What burns me up the most is the thought that one member (at the very least) of the old guard was trying to hurt the ONE company that had to the benefit of us all turned their comfortable high-revenue world upside down...

A big part of the RED SPIRIT is fighting for what we believe in.. We have shown that strength already breaking the mold of what the camera industry was comfortable with giving the customer. But that strength pales in comparison to the strength we, and specifically Jim, unleashes in fighting against right and wrong.

Im glad the United States Government feels the same way.. and am glad they took the first step with the successful conviction.

Now it is Jim's turn.

There are potential upsides to something like this. One of our major AV suppliers, Extron, won an intellectual property theft lawsuit against a major competitor some years ago and wound up owning the company. :sifone:

Been following this....and all I can say is wowwwwwwwwww.

Bullies must be stopped. Thieves must be broken.
Take back what is yours and give no quarter.

The 2nd time I met him he showed me his collection of ARRI cameras, which he was very proud of. He used to wear an ARRI hat to the office... seriously.

I always try to teach my 10-year-old daughter never to settle for a cheap victories. Sometimes basic lessons have to be re-learned the hard way. It is just too bad -- and a little bit heartbreaking -- that Jim will have to be the one who takes them back to school.

The student will have to beat the master.

Tough karmic lesson in here somewhere...that I'm sure will reveal itself in the fullness of time.

I do feel sorry for all of the honest employees who will be caught in the middle.

Sorry. You can thank Arri that my full time job is now dealing with Michael Bravin and Arri. Nothing else.

Jim

Jim that sucks. I hope you have some seriously mean corporate counsel you can unleash and trust to get the job done, but then if it's *your* emails it's personal too.

I have a strong sense of personal honor and this kind of thing, more than anything else, is just plain *dishonorable*.

Go get 'em. Do what you have to do.

Mike

Hopefully this will only strengthen RED's resolve and determination to continue to push the industry and tech the way you guys have.

I'm sure it's heartbreaking to have to shift valuable focus to deal with things like this.

...read my mind.

Burn the hat!

The question is, IS ARRI (Munich) culpable? They maintain that Brevin acted alone. To what end?

Was it more of a case of determining new release dates and various more detailed road maps or announcements, or was it absolute cold theft of “know how”.

ARRI does what ARRI does, but I wonder what and why it was that they felt that they or Brevis HAD to steal or really KNOW something?

It just seems SO dim witted to me.

Joins my voice to those already here, they have said it all; go do the fight Mr. Jim we are all with you.

understandable Jim. I think everyone cautioning him should imagine ALL YOUR EMAILS BEING READ BY YOUR COMPETITORS/ENEMIES for the past 2 years... I say "SUE THE LIVING HELL OUT OF THEM!!!"

And thanks for keeping the HIGH ROAD publicly... but behind the scenes I can imagine RED has dreamt up some amazing new "Jarred feeding his pets at 120 FPS!) shots

Jarred will do just fine with the helm for a while - he's got the amazing RED TEAM behind him and a bunch of well behaved loyalists here (well mostly well behaved) :)

Jim suing Arri... I'm putting Red logos on all of my Arri gear. May as well. Jim will own them. Well, in a way he owns them already. Go get 'em, Boss.
