I like his Linkedin description: “Michael Bravin is indisputably the single most knowledgable and accessible source of information and insight into the latest digital motion picture cameras on the market."

I guess so, when he has direct access to information like this.

I don't think many guys in prison will give a rats ass about what Bravin knows about cameras. How can you be so greedy & stupid to piss a whole career away?
I guess he will have to move to China after all of this. I wonder how long his probation will be?

Adding this to Hildebrand:

Our competition has responded to where they think we are going. That changed a long time ago. :-) Jim

This was Jim´s understanding a few days ago - and then WHAM !!

I don't think we can even start imagining how bad this is hitting Jim. Take care man.

The question is, IS ARRI (Munich) culpable? They maintain that Brevin acted alone. To what end?

Was it more of a case of determining new release dates and various more detailed road maps or announcements, or was it absolute cold theft of “know how”.

ARRI does what ARRI does, but I wonder what and why it was that they felt that they or Brevis HAD to steal or really KNOW something?

It just seems SO dim witted to me.

Eric

Well, I would imagine Bravin spilled the beans about what we did, what ARRI might have got out of it and
where he might have sold some information. A $5000 fine is nothing and 2 months in jail is not
much so I would have to imagine when he got burned that he spilled his guts.
Of course "He will never work in this town again", or anywhere for that matter.

I know in off... RED is suing ARRI... I want nothing in my possession of the ENEMY!!

In a show of moral support I humbly offer to look after the enemy's master primes... I'll, uhh, make sure it isn't used for further evil. ;)

A big part of the RED SPIRIT is fighting for what we believe in.. We have shown that strength already breaking the mold of what the camera industry was comfortable with giving the customer. But that strength pales in comparison to the strength we, and specifically Jim, unleashes in fighting against right and wrong.

Im glad the United States Government feels the same way.. and am glad they took the first step with the successful conviction.

Now it is Jim's turn.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!

Complete disappointed.... The whole situation brings me to the past, back in January first 2011!

where the first Epic M "007 Bond" from OffHollywood, were Stoled In France!

Michael, what do you meant by moving to China. Be careful with what you are saying - Lim

So this involves more than email hacking. The email hacking is not a totally unnusual tactic, but these other matters are unusual and much more serious, especially concerning where they allegedly come from.

Go get them Jim.

It was #6 (not #7) that was stolen, THE VERY FIRST EPIC M shipped out.

It is interesting to think about the magnitude of such crimes as have been spoken about. Not only is it invading Jim and Co's privacy, it reaches into the well being of resellers, friends, acquaintances, family, colleagues, etc.

It feels awful. I know, as it's happened to me once (of course, I realize I don't have nearly the amount of responsibility as Jim, but still...)

I am so sorry to hear this. I tend to be soft but in this case I do hope you keep the blood pressure down and the pressure on the others up.

One curious point is that even breaking into RED's email has not helped Arri, or anyone else, compete technologically with RED. Everyone, including Arri and Sony, are way behind RED from a technical point of view. So maybe what they found was not all that useful...

David

That's the point, they should just concentrate on being competitive.

Don't underestimate the potential damage though. What people can find out, is details of what is planned to respond and/or spoil, and more in internal emails, details of technologies.

It's amazing how once an underdog proves itself the rest become so envious they resort to tactics they never had to before.

Arri will pay, I hope in the end the company has to hand out their gear for free for people to accept it. What an embarrassment to the entire film/tv community.

+1 for team RED! Give em hell!

Ketch, sell those MP's, Get i5's. :) Dont look back.

Already for sale Timur... HERE... When I say something I mean it!!

Cookes are great glass but never liked their look and fill, also they do not cover 5k sadly in off... So I think that it will be Leica Cine glass.

and I hope the “homies” in Jail show him a REAL good time, for his two month “stay”.

Very Best,

Eric
"Homies?" "REAL good time?" You are not a well person. And neiether is anyone on this forum that finds that acceptable.

The question is, IS ARRI (Munich) culpable? They maintain that Brevin acted alone. To what end?

I must first say, that I don't know if Arri is at all culpable in this. So I will just speak in a generalisation about situations like this in general.

What somebody can get out of doing something like that rogue is, 'look at me, look at me! I've worked out what the competition is upto again.', 'I'm indispensable again.' and 'I need a raise, or I need a promotion.' etc. When you find somebody like that you kick them out (or they resign when you are getting suspicious and closing in on them) and hand them over to the authorities. If you have included their feedback unknowingly based on others IP, into new technologies in your products, then your are up the creek, as if you recognise this you necessarily might have to compensate the other company along with a lot of negative publicity, and can not ignore it, so you hose your lines to get rid of unaccounted for IP before it get's to market to limit the harm. So, as you never intended any if this, you go to the other company lay the cards out, humbly apologising and showing your naive ignorance, and negotiate a solution (and if the other company is not a total ..... they don't try to take advantage if you). But I think what I am saying is a bit more idealised and noble then reality.

An interesting point, for a knowledgeable rogue to think they can do something like had been alleged, might reflect on how truly worried their company is, or other.

I understand the magnitude and betrayal of breaking into someone's private email and I like RED but I'm not ready to hang someone (or some corporation) for crimes which they weren't even charged with based solely on RED's lawyer's opinion. If they have a case, Red will have their day in court and justice will be carried out. No need to jump to conclusions about Arri conspiracies until then. I'm still not convinced that this had anything to do with Arri or RED, from the original indictment the timing just looks too much like an employee acting badly on the way out the door.
My advice to Jim would be the same as to everyone else, hold on to your ARRI hats until they have a chance to defend themselves.

Everyone deserves their day in court. My head awaits to be spun. ;) And I don't mean that out of any disrespect to RED. I like to think of myself as a Friend-Of-Red but as a friend I worry that everyone is just rushing to judgement before there could possibly be enough time to get the full picture of what's happened.
