  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

January 2016 update

Well, we did take deposits on the bundle before making them available for a la carte purchasing so, by default, they are chronologically ahead.
 
you can always buy that element technica V-Mount plate.
Since the base i/o expander was already in the CF package it was a no brainer.

I think I've now learned the lesson that all new Red owners should know - order everything as soon as humanly possible. ;) I've got a Sept 29 Raven order, switched to Scarlet-W brain - so that should put me in a pretty good position for the camera. However, I made the mistake of ordering the DSMC2 7" screen and Base I/O more recently, thinking it wouldn't be too big of a deal to add on some accessories - not knowing there might be a huge time lag between the two. It's going to be painful staring at my Scarlet-W sitting pretty in a Pelican case. ;)

True. Though I'd hate to drop $900 just to get me by until the Base I/O arrives (since the Element Technica doesn't have all the capabilities I need).

Brent, will there be any way of knowing (estimating? guesstimating? dart throwing?) how "far behind" accessories are from the time brains are delivered?

this is good advice. It is always a god idea to get in Que. there is a line for items like the base I/O V-lock that you can get on, then make the decision to purchase when your # is called. I Ordered the brain because i have Red Mags, and an extra 5" Monitor. I am in line for both the base I/O, AND the Base I/O V-lock and will make a decision when I am told the camera is ready. I DO have faith that the good people at red are aware that some people who ordered just the brain will want to get their cameras up and running, and I for one am hopeful they have planned for this, at least in the form of the Base I/O expander minus the V-lock

Kevin It MAY have to wait for raven orders to ship. After all some people who ordered raven are already now waiting a little longer than originally thought due to the more recent announcement of the Scarlet-W. Not by long, but still when Raven orders were first made, the possibility of a new scarlet was only hinted at. Maybe they made a lot more v-lock units but It may be hard to make new orders until all the packages head out.. either way red will not comment on dates like that, as it is there is a line for the v-lock heh. I think the website says "coming in march" lets hope they have more than enough v mount units so when we pay for the "brain Only" we have the chance to get the expander we want.
 
I think no matter how the accessory availability turns out, it's still going to be a million times better than what the URSA Mini 4.6K people have been going through. For inferior quality, no less.
 
Unfortunately Element Technica mounts are experiencing supply shortages recently just like with the ET gold mount. I ordered an ET gold mount on Jan 26 and it hasn't shipped yet. Was hoping I could get it so I could use the scarlet-w if the base expander didn't come in

We are breaking out Element Technica out of the somewhat bogged down processes of the big company so Hector and Pizzo can go back to being fast fluid and flexible like the good old days, so this should just be a temporary dip as they are in the middle of getting their new CNC machines up and running.

Good news! I love ET accessories.

BTW, does anyone know of any other companies making Riser Plates besides WC? I'm using the ET Hybrid Bridge Plate system.
 
Any updates on when the Epic-X emails are going to go out? Should we be expecting a few days, or possibly weeks?

I would love to know if any Epic-X emails have gone out…the waiting is killing me! ;-)

I wonder when the new 4.7" Touch will start shipping. Safe to assume that it will ship along side Scarlet-W?
