  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm a bit lost on this one.. So sorry to ask questions...

Is this going to start to appear on the standard MG and TI mounts or is it a option? And if an option is it like LDS or i/ pin?....or is there going to be a special order Arri style mount with both?

Either way I am delighted we are going to get LDS... Red's cameras are often admired by the vFX guys in post it would be nice to give them some meta data love..

In the Red Store, it looks like the only power module currently available for DSMC2 is the Jetpack. Redvolt Expander says "Spring", Base I/O says "March", and the Base Expander and Redvolt XL say "Coming Soon." It's gonna suck to get the brain but not be able to power it for a month (or more?)

You people who are waiting on Weapon MG/Scarlet-W/Raven, are you going to order this before you get your camera? Wonder if I should get in line for one of these or just order a Jetpack right now to be safe.

Even the new Jetpack config with SDI isn't out yet, so I'm waiting for that to be revealed before deciding. I could go with just a V-mount back but not needing to shoot ATM, I'm biding my time.
 
I've been lurking ever since I pre-ordered my Raven, but thought I should say hello. I love these updates and the Q&A sessions that follow, it's very refreshing and informative. Thank you Jarred, Brent and everyone else for your time and effort on this forum. The community here is one of the main reasons why I decided to jump onto the RED bandwagon. Can't wait for my Raven to arrive and to learn from the contributors here. I just wanted to ask, once we get notification that our camera is ready, how long do we have to settle the invoice? I pre-ordered in late October so i'm hoping that I may be able to get mine in March/April but i'm aware many ordered the day it was announced. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Not sure if this was answered but Jarred said that Scarlet-W would ship around 1 month from today. Is this for those who just purchased the brain only or packages also? Can't wait! Thank you!

Brent mentioned earlier that brain only orders will ship first. Packages ship as additional parts (modules and included AKS) become available.

very excited to start playing with 8K R3D.

keep the big files coming so us DIT's can keep our job =)

Question for Jared when will you be able to buy an 8k Weapon out right from RED.com and if so how much will it cost?

Upgrades will be first and they are firing off the line at a slow pace. My best guess is early Q4 this year, maybe.

Price unknown.

Wow, thanks for pointing this out. I was about to order the RAVEN brain with the Redvolt XL module but the "coming soon" is a concern especially with the brains shipping relatively soon.

Q4 seems so very far away... I do hope 8K upgrade queues have opened once more and been fulfilled many moons before that!

Separately.. so what happens to all those 8K cameras after they roll off that major studio production? And what top plate are they using? They're not also the reason for the delays on the WC solution are they..? :) :) :)

They keep them all... :)

This are usually acquired either by the Studio/Production house themselves... Or by the major Rental houses, so they won't stand still much.

Pretty sure you can use current cabled battery plates with Weapon, for power anyway. Not sure if they will mount the same way to the back of the new cameras or modules.
 
Love the updates! So glad I decided to make the jump to RED.

Watching The Martian and then 13 Hours the other day got me even more excited about getting my Scar-W!
 
I have a pre-order on Raven Jetpack and just realized that my local camera store Goecker.dk in Denmark is RED dealer aswell. They just announced that will sell the Raven also. Would dealers generally receive the products before pre-order customers? Or let me ask in another way. Do dealers do pre-orders aswell?

Hard got say as the Dealer concept is brand new .
