  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It has already been a very Happy New Year :)

Making great progress on the Weapon Woven Carbon upgrades.. On track to finish sending out notifications inside the next 2 weeks.

MG Weapon upgrades will immediately commence following that and new MG Weapons will begin to ship Feb. 5th.

Scarlet W is 100% ready and standing by... As we promised to our MG customers, Scarlet-W will only begin to ship right after all MG upgrade customers are blasted which means you early Scarlet-W reservations should start getting your cameras in your hands one month from today.

Raven is still on track to start shipping in March. There is no legacy upgrade wait for those... as soon as the sensors come in they will begin to ship.

I'm getting dozens and dozens of requests for 8ks everyday, and yes Marvel / Panavision is still gobbling every one that comes off the line. We will get out of the one-by-one "tedious" production of 8ks when we start doing monster batches at the end of March and the production of 8ks will ramp up significantly at that time.
 
All very good news. Kudos to everyone at RED for mastering the art of the production line.

Hope you are able to hit your dates on the larger 8K batches, sure would be more fun to be swapping 8K shooting stories at NAB instead of bitch sessions about the wait ;-)

heh heh heh. I hope I've been very clear on the ( lack of ) speed that 8ks take to build. The 8ks are a monumental leap ahead of pretty much everything and they just take alot of time to get right.
 
Jarred, thank you for the constant updates. If you can (please) answer this, would it be safe to say Raven preorders made this month will likely get their Raven in March or April?

That's a hard one to predict, We have way more Raven orders than we imagined so the numbers are high but the fact that a lot of Raven customers jumped to Scarlet-W helps offset that a little bit.. specially since the Scarlet-W starts shipping first.

Thank you! Great job with everything, can't say it enough. Compared to other companies that shall remain nameless, I'm sure we are spoiled with such transparency and updates each step of the way. Now to cross my fingers for more switches to Scarlet-W >=)
 
Wow, thanks for the update! This alone is one of the big reasons why I'm turning from that "nameless" company to RED! Still need to decide on either the RAVEN or Scarlet-W.....

if I subleased my red at Panavision would that potentially get me 8k faster or its internally owned Panavision units that get priority? I didn't go for forged but keep my package with a mainstream facility and since so many facilities don't own their inventories how does a guy like me actually get on the list? The honest truth is my red is essentially full time rentals so how do I work it out as someone who has a camera there anyway? It kind of sucks that I end up as the last unit upgraded so if for all intensive purposes my unit is part of Panavision (or a competitor for now until I move it to Panavision) how does one get into being that early? I mean besides being owned by me it lives there full time as part of their fleet and realistically I was considering going to Panavision anyway with my unit at some point if they got all the glass anyway

So is Marvel going to gobble up every 8K cam you make before you start doing the "monster batches"?
 
So, if we are ordering today, is it safe to say we will get a Scarlet-W before a Raven? Thanks Jarred.
