  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is it me... or is the forum Dead at the moment!

Could be anywhere in the world today.
Have to say, i do love the forum, having a quick peak to hear JIM going off about 2k vs 4k... Jarred telling someone off or showing us dudes with there new epics... new stuff
New brackets... , modules.. lazer projectors... batteries plates... Graeme talking alien stuff (over my head) Deanans solution posts.. I love all this stuff...

But of late... nothing.???

Anyone else loosing the feel...

Maybe its just me. but it does feel like dead space around here at the moment... just a bunch of people with small camera issues or shots of there guys skateboarding in slo motion.

Maybe it's the start of the end of the forum.

hope not.

Come on RED dudes... blow some life back into it.

Eye of the storm buddy, and everyone knows there's nothing more ominous than a RED storm!

Maybe it is 1:15AM and everyone at RED actually decided to go home and attempt to get a solid 8 hours of sleep for the first time in 5 years :)

I wish them very pleasant dreams. Hopefully not involving running around in mazes of camera schematics.

Jim is having ARRI for breakfast and will be back before lunch.
Jarred is reloading the ballistic missile silos.
Graeme is in the jungle of south america at an ancient alien spaceport.

They all got stuff to do till friday!

start of the end? this is the end of the start, I think :)

people can only speculate so much... all the energy is in anticipation for nov 3rd, probably....

Man my EPIC has been out nearly every day for the last month! I think we are all busy shooting stuff.

I just got my segway today and I am waiting for my STEADISEG bits to turn up for my Steadicam, so I will post some cool shit up soon. Come on Mark, you must have been shooting something cool in the last few weeks. Post some of that.

And when the STEDISEG bits turn up, it will be available for rent with the segway with turf and skinny tyres.

I agree its quiet.

But Im reckoning theres some thing afoot

You have a SEGWAY in AUS... cool. !
Send me mail when you have it.. I very much like the system and will be keen to use..

I'm betting and hoping that the Red bees are very busy making sweet honey 24/7 and are crashing out on folding chairs and couches when they can. I do know I'm spending way more time on the boards these days waiting for each drip of news. But, I'm patient. Just watching with great anticipation and enjoying a lot of the guessing going on.

Early November I hope all of the bits turn up. I just had a few hours training today on my actual segway and it has to be one of the most fun toys I have ever bought!
I have an Archer 2 SE steadicam kit that is perfect for EPIC/RED/Alexa. And i am getting a few of my fellow steadicam operators trained up on it also, so if you need it let me know.

My steadiseg will have the outdoor off terrain wheels and also the indoor skinny wheels, along with the hard mounts for both goofy (which is me) and natural steadicam operators.

I"m looking forward to Nov. 3. I"m getting tired of reading "Red is so awesome and I love them so much! If they tape an old telescope to a disposable camera, I'm going to buy 10 of them, and I'm willing to pay 10,000 dollars or more each for them, because whatever Red makes is the bestest evar!"

And that is usually a reply to "2/3 sensors are to small. I'm positive Red has turned the Scarlet into an Epic so that we can buy an Epic for 10K or less!"

Mark,

Thanks for starting this thread.

The forum seems to run on RED energy, that is to say when no one from RED is posting then people kinda go away. The easy way to figure this out is by looking at thread views. Generally RECON out numbers any other thread buy about 100-1000 to one in views.

People generally come to REDuser to find out what RED has to say or quickly solve or report a problem. The community aspect has changed a bit over the years and some people have posted less frequently than they used too.

Taking away certain kinds of discussions (because they were descending into snake pits) was a good move, but it also seems to have caused a dip in traffic.

Good discussions on a bunch of subjects are occuring, but I agree there are less of them.

Feels like everyone is in wait and see mode for November 3rd, when Canon announces their revolution and RED announces theirs.

But I agree, the community is quiet and also seems to be dwindling.

David
