Introducing the RED 3-axis Lens Control System

For those that prefer a bigger marking ring.....

.

Don't know how I missed this - this is actually a really big deal for some AC's.

You guys need to get this pic someplace on RED webpage/store/coming soon or whatever - ASAP.

REALLY well done guys.

Hi Mark, sorry for bothering... just need a hint: do you think that I can use two channels of the three available to control 2 focus onto a 3D rig?

Sorry guys for my ignorance... Just wondering if I can setup the system for a 3D mirror system: 1 Motor for the Left focus, 1 Motor for the Right Focus, 1 Motor for Interaxial?
Is this possible?

I'm pretty sure this can be done. The RTMotion has this feature so I'm confident the RED can do this too. Motors can be assigned to channels to the controller. So a slider can control 2 motors at once if you want.

mark I'm still waiting for someone to confirm a step up adapter comes with this kit to let us use Preston rings. So far all we know is that this was on Jarred's personal fiz setup. As it stands the included rings (this kit SHOULD come with six at a minimum) are too thin.

Don't know how I missed that either. It's beautiful!

Any Movi users had a chance to try this system yet? I'm concerned that the W.M.D. motor driver unit might be too large for the Movi. It's pretty big and beefy and might stick out too much. I wish Red would come out with a single channel "Mini-WMD" for small and light setups like Movi, Steadicam, or slider use.

The RTMotion is 3 channel and tiny.

Is this shipping yet? We need to buy a system by next week at the latest and would love to support RED and pick this up.

understand that, but there are plenty who preordered a product that is now DOA and as this i presume as its replacement would be interested to know where they stand

Did this get answered in this thread? I don't believe it did.

The 3-Axis is so desirable. Saving my pennies...

I'm sorry if I missed it, but I would very much like to know what the exact differences are between the RED WMD, Lens Motors and THC Hand Controller vs. the ET (RED Elements) version.

Thanks for any info.

Yep, forget putting the WMD on a MoVI.
Way too big and heavy.

O I wish I could tell you what is coming...

BTW... The kits are in stock and going through engraving now. Should be packed up now and shipped out later next week.

Oh? Will we have a glimpse into this new device at NAB Jarred?

Look what arrived yesterday! Initial impressions are extremely positive... and the new HU3-style knob is the perfect upgrade to the ET/RED handset.

I'm about to put this thing through the wringer on a job that starts next week; it's going right into the line of fire.
