  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Internal ND for Raven by KipperTie

let us know when the preorder is live, im tired of refreshing :)

I'll buy this 100%. I use long lenses for wildlife. Often matteboxes aren't an option. Looks the goods.

Ok, so pre-ordering is live on our site now:

Make sure you read in detail - those of you who pre-order will get the best deal but a longer wait.
You're also the trailblazers who will make it possible to bring this product to market.

More pictures, progress and updates will follow - check back to the product page regularly for the latest info.

So you take the lens of, put in an ND filter in the cartridge and remount the lens?

It's not a bad idea. Maybe useful for those who specifically use very wide lenses with no filter threads. Also useful for consistent filter sizes (but Step rings take care of that)

I though they'd be a way to insert/remove fast without de mounting the lens....

Off topic, but can someone explain why adding the ND affects backfocus?? Does it somehow change the physical distance between the back element of the lens and the sensor?

Adding a window of glass between lens and target moves the focus by ~1/3 the thickness of the glass. There's a heap more to it than that, but that's the basics :)

Hey John,

So it's an optical phenomenon, not a physical thing? The glass changes how the light hits the sensor, rather than changing the physical distance between lens and sensor?
