  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interchangable OLPFs

Oh. And the $195 dollar question is. What size wrench is needed and are there any other special tools required to pop these in and out?

Lol, glad you asked. The key for this is now part of the SIDEWINDER offering. If I remember correctly, T6.

EDIT: Nice, Bob.

Ah. Smart! That must mean that bad boy is on it's way soon. Everybody, and I do mean everybody, has been waiting for it.

If people sniff around they can see a preview of the finished model in the video on the order page of the 7.0" LCD Touch it seems :)

So just to clarify, when we swap out to the new system, we have no OLPF in there, correct?

I was planning on ordering both of the OLPF options on the site, just want to make sure I'm not ordering something redundant.

Also, will we need any other tools or skills when getting the modification kit, or is it a pretty straightforward process?

Thanks! This is great and can't wait!

Has there been any improvement to the gate flare shadow with this new interchangeable olpf system ?

No. If you send your camera, we will removed the fixed OLPF and convert your camera to a swappable OLPF, including replacing your existing OLPF.

If you sent in with (x) OLPF, you can order (y) OLPF now to have both.

The user modification kit will include all needed tools. But, unless you are pretty confident with tools millimeters away from the sensor glass, I suggest you send in.

You pay shipping to us, we pay for shipping back. Goes for both you sending in your camera to get modified and you sending back the old OLPF if you did the mod yourself.

Sounds great and affordable :o)

One question: is it possible to drop it off in the morning in Irvine and pick it up later (same day)?

I guess Hollywood is not an option?

Awesome! Does this mean cameras that have yet to be upgraded to Dragon will now receive the new upgradable system?

Any idea as to the ETA of that standard "middle ground" OLPF?

Still a couple months away till release.. Lots of testing going on right now with it as you can imagine.

any chance you guys could make a video or put up a manual on how to do the modification so us on the fence about doing it ourselves vs. sending it in can better decided.

Does it come with the black rubber gloves and are there any "clean room bags" or something to change it inside?

On a shoot recently I could have used an OLPF change from day to night, but finding an area to change it in would have been tough. A bag of some kind to protect from dust would be nice.

Thanks Brent!

I have high hopes for the middle ground Olpf. The monochrome olpf will be irresistible.
I am really excited about the pricing of these and that this will be open to 3rd party, I can't wait to see what doors this will open.

Ok so if I understand it correctly I order both high and lowlight olpf nd the black gloves kit and then send in my old olpf.

From looking at the video swapping it seams like a new brainer, possibly not vice to do in a desert storm or such but a somewhat clean environment I would not worry to much about dust etc.

Email sent to dragonupgrade@red.com

Is that all I can do for now, or should I order on the page or such?

Correct, drop offs at RSH are performed at Irvine. Depends on queue. Might be able to do same day. I would think drop off one day and get next is a safer bet.
