IMy point is that most people can't afford a 30-40k setup for a single camera. Let alone a couple.
Of course... There are obviously different tools for different jobs and different markets.
Just as many can't afford a RED One, there are plenty who can't afford an EX1 with 35mm adapter, or even just a bare EX1.
You can bet that if Scarlet is a stand-alone camera (and I assume it is), that there will be people hooking it up to just about anything. There will be 35mm adapters being used on it. I'm just saying that I don't think this is going to be the primary intended market for this camera. 35mm adapted HD cameras are still a relatively small niche compared to the bulk of the market.
Most of us are just wild-ass-guessing about what Scarlet will be. I think my whole take on Scarlet is that RED is not trying to target a market niche like 35mm adapted cameras. That doesn't (in my line of thinking) make sense for RED to do. Yes, I'm sure someone will hook a Scarlet up to a 35mm adapter almost immediately after they begin shipping.
To me Scarlet says covert, run-n-gun, helmet mount, crash cam. If it can fit in my pocket and shoot HD-res (hopefully 1080p+), but more importantly give me REDCODE RAW. Then I just found my new favorite camera for home movies, mounting on motorcycles, BMX bikes, wakeboards, surf boards, skate boards, helmets, airplane cockpits and hobby rockets.
If it's something entirely different, then great! I'm sure I can find a way to use whatever that is too.
