  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC - REDVOLT XL Module

Sorry for the delay.. We added some leds to the module to signify the charge status since this module can be used as a charger when it is off camera as well so that cost us a month.. The delay sucks but the change was worth it. Should be shipping before Christmas.

Any plans for a REDVolt XXL?
What do you have in mind? A completely new form-factor or just a XL with more depth?
There is always the VLOCK stuff, and now, especially with that XL-module and the RED VLOCK-module it should be easy to switch between options.

Same form factor, just more depth to give an option for longer battery life.

I guess they could, but there is the risk of too much torque on the small clips that hold these batteries. Also, they would only be for this module as they would stick too far out of the quad modules. But hey, you never know!

The revolt xl comes right in under the FAA guidelines for carry on. Longer cells would be great for people that don't care about that but then you are entering vlock territory so you might as well just go that route. To me the xl is the perfect ratio between size and weight.

Absolutely agree, and with the huge amount of traveling planned, the XL's make it a dam perfect solution... Till then I got the V-Lock Short cable-less plate and a bunch of 90's/100's.

But the Xl's module brings a lot more then just a carry on worry free solution, but to me it is also what it offers within it self, portable single unit charger, on camera additional power out, and of course also my favorite because I do care how clean and quell set up my gear looks and fills, the fact that with the Xl's module the camera back look s really clean, and not oversize batteries towering over the back end of the camera, and this is also not just looks, but comes in to offer better set up solutions for other things back there, such as allowing for the 9" Touch to now be set at the very back end and be absolutely free of any obstruction.

So can't wait for the Xl module... And that is why I ordered as soon as it went live... ;)

Oh, and almost forgot that I also love the XL module for the fact that when wanting to go super lite and not needing double monitoring, you can swap it's back plate and screw it right on to the Brain itself, no additional Module adapter or +_1 or anything needed, and that is great!!

Yes, meeting FAA carry on guidelines is one of my favorite things about the XL... The thought was for people who were interested in streamlining their battery plate / battery options to just one type... Also for certain handheld and aerial rigs, a less tall, but deeper XXL battery could be beneficial.

Thanks for always being open to these discussions, no matter which way you decide to go. :-)

Yep, keeping it under that limit makes a lot of sense. What could be done to keep it that way, is a extender, a battery pack that clips on front of a a XL... Modular batteries. ;)

i'd love an adapter cable to be able to run the battery modules off camera

If Im not running RED VOLTS.. I do exactly this but with a RED BRICK in a bum bag. :) Keeps my camera light and 2+ hours of battery life.
When I detach from V lock, I have 10 RED VOLTS ready to go... Very rarely do we even use them all.

I couldn't be happier with my current camera setups.

Yep, having the V-Battery mount tied up with a cable to your hip belt or back makes this a very easy and lightweight setup with long shooting duration.
We use the small batteries in the grip mainly for very quick and dirty stuff or - mostly - for compensating for batterie loss etc. of the V-Mount batteries, as they bridge that gap perfectly. We do not even need dual V-Mounts for hot swap anymore.

Cheers,
Axel

i am using the same setup now....works great...i do hate the cable but what i hate even more is that i somehow always have problems pulling the cable out of the body (or attaching it) it just never goes in or out smoothly....i always feel like i am either hurting the cable or worse, the body/camera....
i can't have a V lock battery on the body (so those solutions are out)....i am looking forward to this XL adapter...i am hoping the weight/size will be acceptable....at that point it is just a matter of switching XL volts and little ones in the side handle....
making the adapter a charger as well is a really, really nice touch....i am assuming it won't be able to charge red volts as well? XL only, right?

Yep, those LEMO-connectors are special, i'm still not really used to them and always extra carefull.
I remember unpacking my Scarlet and trying to disconnect the power cable for the first time... I never have googled how to unplug a cable before that. ;)
