  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC - Motion Mount ready to ship...

That would be awesome Phil, maybe you can help RED get something up in the education section.

I do also think we'll see a new lovely blur with a new smoothness and richness to it at speeds like 24fps.

I might put together a quick sample video the minute I get this to show the difference between modes and how it effects the image. That could be as soon as next week even.

Does the Dragon sensor have any IR filter built into the OLPF?

I'm looking forward to only using the mattbox for creative filters, such as promist 1/8th.

There is indeed an IR Cut Filter in there. Within the full 8 stop range we might get away without one both with Mysterium-X and Dragon, although Dragon itself has a new IROLPF in there. Stay turned. That's something I'm eager to look at and test out. I don't have a shortage of black shirts :)

I'll ask. I got my order in and should have it soon. I wouldn't mind putting together a test for Red at all, I'm going to do it anyways. It'll be controlled and I'll do my best to make it pretty :)

Yes. Last we heard there is a new "IROLPF" and likely some other Dragon specific optical elements involved with the upgrade. This is a good thing as it protects us from IR contamination that we've dealt with through the use of Hot Mirror ND Combo or IRND filters. Also, since Dragon is more light sensitive than Mysterium-X we might find ourselves using larger densities to reach certain desired apertures and shutter speeds.

Gibby - you are still around!! Good to see your smiling face!!! lol

;))) Thanks Terry

I was on-board with Red since even before the beginning, I've been here on Red User all along, but the last 18 months I've shifted into "stealth mode". I'm way mobile now so I just lurk here when I'm able to, keep my finger on the pulse of what's up, and go about my business. Though my posting here has diminished, my fire inside for Red products has always kept growing exponentially.

Jim, Jarred, and the rest of Red Team have been great friends all along - and I still contact them regularly. I'm incredibly proud of all of them. For me its really been an honor to be a part of the "family" here on Red User.

Life is good...

Add me to the NIKON list.

Same here, would love an F motion mount! Although I may just have to get the Canon one, seems I've been acquiring more Canon glass lately since that's what everyone else wants to use... I'm going to order the PL version and just have not pulled the trigger yet. Been busy with other things lately and when using the camera, my primary PL lenses I use these days are the Optimo DP zooms. Both of which are incompatible with the Motion mount due to how far back the lenses' rear elements protrude.

3-5 day wait is now 7-10 days

Dangit. Ordered on friday AM, just got told the rush on these was so big it'll be at least 2 weeks to get one shipped.

Bummer. Was really hoping to have one in hand by the 24th for a shoot that involved muzzle flashes and strobes. :(

Was just told by my Bomb Squad Rep that there is no current trade in for your existing mount when buying Motion Mount.

Nikon please

Personally I think you'd want to keep your standard Ti PL mount, and use the MM when needed. It's not a one size fits all solution. For example you can't use the MM with Angeinux DP lenses due to the flange issue, unless you want to try to punch a whole through the motion mounts filter.
