And here I though it was just a cool ND filter, but oh boy was I wrong.
I'm really excited about the possibilities of improving motion blur.

As I understand we can't use HDRx while using the global shutter (which makes sense), but can we use it while in only ND mode? Seems like it should work.

Extremely cool to see how Red is pushing the boundary.

From the manual:

- You cannot use HDRx while the Motion Mount is installed.

This makes sense as to how the motion mount interacts with the electronic shutter.

Maximum Frame Rate when Motion Mount shutter is enabled (soft or square) = 120fps. In normal ND only mode I think you can go higher.

I've spent time with the "hyper" look stuff, I'm not a fan. The 48 FPS stuff and 60 FPS didn't work for a lot of us, the magic sort of disappeared.

So I'm not looking forward to that with the motion mount. I'm getting it just for ND and IR purposed but it sure will be fun to play around with the other features. Hopefully by then you will have some videos up so I can spend less time testing to reach the same conclusions

Not talking about the effect of a 360 shutter..... but more of the smooth feeling that comes from that at thinner and more standard shutters like 180 degrees. I got to thinking about productions shooting HFR at 48 and 60fps, which isn't my first choice, but a very real goal for many. This may indeed produce something even more "real" or perhaps hyper real to the look of that type of material.

If you can't turn off the polarizer then will this mount really replace the standard non-motion mount for everything? I would hate to change mounts every time I don't need a polarizer. I guess we'll see soon.

I have a question. Sorry if this has already been answered:

It looks like the Motion Mount adds another layer of glass very close to the sensor, correct? So, does it add to the possibility of sensor dust accumulation? If I am not mistaken there will be three surfaces sitting close to the sensor instead of one, the OLPF plus the front and back side of the motion mount crystal/glass.

Would the dust be more or less visible than that sitting on the sensor? My guess is that it would be less because of the extra distance, but I thought I would check.

I guess I'm still confused about this... Yes, this is like a .5 ND + all in one... but I still can't go from 0 ND to ND 4. To do that, I'd have to change mounts, which to me is WAY more time consuming and harder to do than use ND filters. Also, there are many times I don't want a Pola on camera (as was talked about with skin tone/reflections), is there a way to disable this without adding more glass in front of the lens? I think the idea behind this is awesome, just the whole fact (from my understanding) we can't go from NO ND to 4 ND is kinda crazy to me, I guess I want my cake and eat it too... Moving from indoors or night time to bright exteriors all with one mount.

I'm much of the same mindset for say narrative. However, I know for a fact that up to 60fps 4K is coming home and I'm not going to toss that aside. Sport featurettes for instance would be interesting in HFR. Same with some "natural history" work.

However, I do also think we'll see a new lovely blur with a new smoothness and richness to it at speeds like 24fps.

I might put together a quick sample video the minute I get this to show the difference between modes and how it effects the image. That could be as soon as next week even.

There is indeed an IR Cut Filter in there. Within the full 8 stop range we might get away without one both with Mysterium-X and Dragon, although Dragon itself has a new IROLPF in there. Stay turned. That's something I'm eager to look at and test out. I don't have a shortage of black shirts

Yep! And just think of anybody doing run n' gun work. I'm putting together two documentary shoots, which is not my normal fair, and I can see this little bad guy being pretty damn handy.
